Hey ladies
So DH went for his SA test on thurs only to be told then and there with deposit in his hand that the person doing them was ill and the next appointment they can give him his the 8TH OCTOBER!!!!

Nedless to say i am fuming!!!:growlmad::growlmad: (bloody NHS!) So i am now considering that we get DH done privately, we need the results to be able to move forward.

I am due to have a lap and dye and at this rate will have the op before DH has his SA...its ridiculous. So my question is does anyone know or have an idea how much an SA costs privately???? (if it helps im in the Somerset area if that makes a difference).

I have decided against internet test as have heard they are not reliable?

Thank You Kindly xxxxx:flower:

Hi,
I was looking this up today. One place I found was £100 but I've seen loads of people on here get them a lot cheaper at £50-£70 ish. I want to arrange one privately and bypass our docs. Not sure if you can go straight to a place without a referral but think I'm going to try! x

hi hun

sorry about your stress : (

Could you have a word with your gp and find another local hospital that will take your sample??

I work in a GP sugery and we give out the collection pots, the chaps 'do the deed' and just drop it off, no appointment needed

It's not fair that you should have to pay up

My local hospital works like that too - the GP provides the bag, form and pot. Hubby provides the necessary and drops it in within the hour. Happy day.

I'm in the U.S., but my DH just needed a Rx to take to a local hospital lab, where he would receive a cup and just needed to drop it off 30 minutes after the sample was obtained. Cost: $50.00

We went with CARE (Manchester) it cost about £80 and we got our results back in 30 mins. However we did go through the NSH first and it was absolute weeks - before he could take the sample in and then weeks for the results. Best thing we ever did going to CARE - but we did have IVF with them - so I don't know if they just do SA.
Best of luck!

Thank you ladies will be phoning Somerset Nuffield tomorrow so will tell you the out come....also one other question....

I notice that some clinics do a normal SA Test and and Advanced SA Test which costs in the region of £350.00. Is ist necessary to have this one and which one is the equivilent of the NHS one?

There is no way that could afford the advanced one but was curious of anyone knew?

you just need the basic test hun. count ,motility, morphology....... x

Also sorry to be a pain...do you need a referral ??? My DH is in the forces so his doctor is through his work. He is doing the SA test through me and my testing. Will the clinic refer him if i ask them too?

I phoned a clinic - London Women's clinic I think it was called. It was £100 for the SA but you have to get a consultation as well. They don't need a referral from docs. x

Just wanted to update on this thread, we have booked a SA at the Bath Assissted Conception Centre costing £125. I know that is a lot but my husband in the Armed Forces so he can't just get time off and plus they can fit him in in August so no having to wait to October yipeeeee!!!
