Cottage pie recipes!

I'm looking for some cottage pie recipes from you Brits! My dad is from the UK and mom used to make it all the time. She keeps forgetting to give me her recipe and I'm anxious to make it (pregnancy craving ). Thanks!

I love cottage pie!

My nans recipe:
Prepare potatoes and set to boil (for about 20 minutes)
Soften the onion (diced) and brown the beef mince.
Add diced carrots for a couple of minutes
Sprinkle with a bit of flour and add 200-250ml beef stock (you don't want it dry but don't want loads of sauce)
Add frozen peas and some tomato purée and dried mixed herbs (I don't measure I just kind of chuck it all in!) simmer until potato is cooked.

Then transfer to a pie dish and mash the potatoes. Cover the meat mixture with the mash. (You can also top with grated cheese if you like)

Bake in the oven on 180 degrees for about 25-30 minutes until golden

You'll come out with a similar result with all recipes I think but jus a tip for a change, put sliced tomatoes ontop of the mash & then a bit of cheese. Also it's nice with sweetcorn inside rather than peas

I use Potato, Turnip & Parsnip mash on top + half a ton of cheese. I also add grated carrot & mushroom into the mince along with peas.
