Hello thereee :)

im feeding my little Ella on Aptamil, started her off on number 1, breast milk substitute, and she did really gulp that! but she wasn't pooing and seemed really wingey so thought could be colic/constipation so bought the Aptamil comfort and tried her on that. She didn't gulp this one and it is thicker.

After a week or two she seemed better so thought we would try her back on number 1 and she still gulped, so bought number two, for hungrier babies (she was 9lb2oz so thought she might be a hungry baby) she seemed fine on that but still wasnt pooing, so put her back on the comfort milk and she pooed just fine.

The other day tho my mum was reading the box and discovered that the comfort milk is also for lactose intolerant babies.
obviously im going to ask the health visitor if she could be a lactose intolerant baby, but i thought i would see if anyone here knew or if anyone had problems with Aptamil, like is it too rich?

Ellas 1month old if that makes any difference?

thanyouu :)

Abi is lactose intolerant and comfort milk didn't help at all, it still contains lactose just about half the amount and the whey is partially digested, I think if comfort milk is working then stick with it, Abi is now on completely milk free formula.

Abi always gulped her feeds when she was little and even sounded like she was drowning herself and had to have breaks to catch her breath, now she's a bit bigger she seems to have calmed down a bit

We have Ethan on Aptamil which is supossed to be the easiest for babies to digest and very gentle. If it were me I would stick to the comfort milk if it was doing the trick. I think the comfort milks have reduced lactose in them, its not completly lactose free though. If you lo was lactose intolerant I think they would show signs like really green runny nappies, maybe that's not the case for all babies but my newphew was lactose intolerant and he had really bad colic, would scream for hours and had green poo all the time :flower:

I had Jake on Aptamil stage 1 and it just didnt agree with him.
It was too much for him to drink and he used to get a lot of white on his tongue.. it was just too rich for him to digest! He would scream for hours after each feed.
We eventually were advised to try aptamil comfort and it was the best thing we ever did.
He's so much happier now and he brings his wind up a treat after each feed. He barely brings his knees up to his chest anymore either!
So glad there are things out there to help us!x
