Pcos question please read it all if you know anything about pcos and the crud that goes along with it. please :flower:

Ok so I have severe PCOS. I have not had a period since I was 14 unless it was induced by meds. Hubby and I have been trying for a baby for a little over 3.5 years now we have even donesome fertility treatments (clomid, femera, menopur) all failing to make me ovulate, either I was a slow responder or I didn't respond at all and all of the cycles were canceled. The last treatment cycle we did was in may.

In may my RE put me on BC pills until we were ready to try treatments again. I didnt start taking these until July. In September my regular doc prescibed me two kinds of meds take to help with weight loss; phentermine and topamax. The topamax skrewed with the BC and I started to bleed at the start of the third week (28 day pack) I did finish the pack dispite the "period" once I got to the end of the pack and started on the placebo pills I once again started bleeding. that wasn't really unexpected though. I have NOT continued taking the birthcontrol since

But here I was on october 31st minding my own business and omg there it is again two and a half weeks later I have my period yet AGAIN! It is not heavy like the last two times but it isnt light. I can sleep 9 hours with a super tampon and not worry where before it was a super plus tampon and a pad for bed time, but you get the idea. also there has been some clotting like usual but not really any cramping but my lower back has been sore

The first two times this month make sense but this time does not. At all!

I have went from 260lbs to 246lbs but I don't know if that could have anything to do with this. I am just really confused.

Sorry this is long but any advise is helpful

hi :) sorry to hear about your struggle!!! i know how you feel. i do have pcos as well and been ttc for 5 years now  2 years on our own since i have had long cycle but regular periods (no luck), went to my dr and was sent to RE. it took as 3 years to get proper dx  first dr was a meatball since she put in her report possible pcos but told us that everything if fine!!! sec dr didnt listen to me. so finally my current dr told me about pcos. i have been on metformin and it works for me. my cycles are 29 days now and i ovulated day 14 (first time)

so i wanted to ask: are you on metforin to regulate your period and ovulation? if yes, is it helping? also, i have been going for accupuncture and been taking herbs for 8 mo now. i believe it has helped me so much. maybe you could try as well.
i believee that your recent periods are good sign that your body is responding to the meds and that it is cleaning itself up. making fresh lining in uterus. so maybe if you took metformin now it would regulate everything. good luck :)

Hi. I have pcos too. I weighed in at over 265 in college and barely ever got a period. Maybe once every 4-6 months. Then i dropped a whopping 70 lbs and starting getting a period every thirty days. Pretty sure I was ovulating too based on nice cycle lengths but wasn't keeping track cause i was not sexually active and wasn't worried about ttc. Then i got married in 2009 and put on weight until about 245 last year. My periods yet again stopped coming except for every 4 months or so and i knew I wasn't ovulating cause i had been charting since i got married. I tried clomid 7 times and it only worked 4 times and i did get pregnant one time but had a miscarriage shortly after. I've been losing weight since last year and really into (losing about 26 pounds) in the last 3 months. Now I'm down to 209 (only 14 pounds to my old weight) and seriously as soon as I started losing weight and working out my body started functioning again! 35 days after i started working out 3 months ago I ovulated on my own on cd 45. Then last cycle I ovulated on my own again on cd 23 giving me a 35 day cycle (in the realm of normal) this cycle I think I'm ovulating today on cd 18!!!! This will give me a 30-32 day cycle! I'm telling you, keep it up on the weight loss and chart and you will litterally be able to see the changes and enjoy the benefit of being able to ovulate on your own 10-12 times a year! Giving you LOTS of chances to get pregnant :) sorry for the book but i thought id share my exciting discovery

Thank you for the replies!... So do you ladies think that it is possible that the period I just had was a real honest to goodness period that was maybe the result of me actually ovulating?

Losing weight can help ovulation I heard. Coz it is not the weight itself the problem but what lies behind weight gain is. The insulin resistant. Metformin help my organ to produce enough&effective insulin. I have pcos with normal weight. 104lb and while taking met, I lost appetite alot, not no mention got diarea the first 2 weeks. Im 96lb now. Clomid works well too (dh has problem too so we are still ttc-ing despite clomid successfully make me ovulate).
Metformin&low carb&low sugar have helped me to have regular 31-32days cycle.

Before I was diagnosed with PCOS I would get 2 periods in one month then go 6 months without even having one. I should've known something was up, but from what I hear this is normal for us with the syndrome.
