That I have made the best choice for my son and that his health will be good. I have exclusively breast fed for 3 months, but he has had really bad colic and screamed and cried all day and only really fed properly at night. It got to the stage where in the day he was hardly eating.

Someone recommended I try him on formula just to see if that would help... which I did... and he is now really happy and content.

So I gave up breast feeding in the day when his colic is really bad and gave him formula but breast fed him for 2 night feeds. Then because he got used to bottle feeds he went down to one breast feed in the night and rejected the morning feed. Now he rejects all breast feeds, so last night he started on formula fully in the night aswell.

He is a happy baby now, and is feeding really well with his formula. But I just cannot help but feel really guilty and sad for not breast feeding anymore.

Please make me feel better about my decision.. anyone else put their baby on formula after breast feeding them?

It doesnt help that my boobs kill as they are full of milk not being used :( xx

You did it for 3 months....that's fabulous! You shouldn't feel guilty.

You've done well, he's got plenty of goodness and all the colostrom from the first three months, don't feel guilty, you're doing what's best by your little boy.

Wow, I think three months is a real achievement and you have given him the best start in life. If I can do three months, I will be more than happy.

Don't feel bad about it - celebrate it! x

Bloody hell las you've done brilliantly. I managed two weeks. I too had the guilt and missed it but I can't deny my boy is happier. That's what matters to me. You should be proud of yourself my friend. xx

Thank you girls I feel a tad better. I'll feel much better once my supply has stopped and I'm not in pain anymore lol x

I think 3 months is great!! All you do is the best you can - no one can expect anymore. I'm sure I'll feel the same when I stop but even if thats tomorrow, we've done our best. :)

my goal was to breastfeed to 3 months, I think thats a great achievement hun you have done so well , and now you have a happier baby now he is on formula, happy baby = happy mummy, less stress and more time to enjoy eachother and have fun! dont feel guilty xxxx

3 months is excellent - you have done really well. No one could ask for more

It was obviously the right time to stop! He is happy and healthy and thats number one priority not proving you can breastfeed for as long a possible - well done!
