ladies, i dont know what to do anymore, i tried all sorts of creams for the eczema but nothing has helped, i used Bennets baby aqueous cream, epizone, olive oil, coconut oil, please what did you use, it might work for my child..the craddle cap,Lord i have tried to remove it hut it comes back and worse, i used J&J baby oil and shampoo..what can i use? what worked for you?

i was given diprobase by the doc for my LO's eczema, he had the lumpy sort on his face, after 3 uses it started to clear up loads and almost has that lovely baby soft skin we all love :)

I was recommended detinox shampoo by the nurse been using it for over a week cradle cap has almost gone

Dentinox cradle cap shampoo worked the best for my LOs cradle cap - it didn't take it away entirely, but it kept it more manageable till it went away itself with time. For the eczema we use Cetraben emollient cream and bath additive, with a steroid cream as needed - all from the GP. Have to be really religious about applying them - bit of a pain doing it so often but it's the only way it works.

thank you ladies, i will get detinox first..so many people tell me not to use steroids creams as the suppress the eczema and that it will come back, i am so confused and my friend uses repivate and it has worked wonders and it is a steroid cream also...this is so tiring..

I used coconut oil and dentinox shampoo, I covered dd's hair with the oil and let it soak in for 10 minutes then used the shampoo with a really gentle baby brush. After doing it twice dd's cradle cap had disappeared completely x

Have you tried dermol? You can get it on prescription from. GP to apply as a cream or as a wash in the bath. I have used it for years for my eczema and it has worked great for my daughter too. Steroids creams are sometimes the only option as simply moisturisers just don't clear it up. You use can use them for short periods of flare up then stop again. They don't cause the eczema to come back, it's just a condition that comes and goes for some people.

For the cradle cap I used to cover her head in baby oil, rub it in a little and opo a hat on her at bedtime. Then bath her the next morning washing with baby shampoo then towel dry thoroughly. If it was really bad then I used a soft baby brush. Picking at it can make it worse and also can cause infection so try not to touch it - as hard as it is :-) xxx

Have you checked with the doc that it is cradle cap and not eczema on babys head? My LO had eczema that looked exactly like cradle cap. I had to treat it by alternating 0.5% hydrocortisone and an emollient.

I use olive oil for the cradle cap, let it soak in for 15 minutes then brush through with the comb at a 90 degree angle to the scalp so it's not scratching the skin. Then shampoo. I find most of it comes off but it does come back after a while.

DS1 had bad eczema and we tried everything. Nothing worked and he seemed to just grow out of it. It was the worst from about 3months-6months. He is still a bit rashy at 2.5 years old but nothing like when he was a baby.

babymama, do i need a prescription for diprobase?

i honestly couldnt tell you, i have just typed it into google and it has come up in boots, although i got a big massive tub of it on prescription, and besides id rather get it free if im going to need it often, and especially if you dont know if it will work for you or not :) x

I think you can buy diprobase under a 'prescription' from a pharmacist but you still have to pay for it. You can get it free from the GP though xx

For the cradle cap we used Mustela shampoo with little success and the first time we tried baby oil and rubbing it with a toothbrush it was gone! Wish we would have tried that sooner!

For the eczema we use aquaphor ointment twice a day and when she has a bad flare up we use a prescribed steroid cream.

If your baby has eczema can you not get a prescription to help clear it up? My son had the worst cradle cap I have ever seen and the only thing that helpers clear that was coconut oil, I would smother his head in it and leave it on for half an hour before using a baby brush and combing out the lose flakes. After washing his head I then used to put on johnsons baby oil gel and leave that on to soak in. Dentinox cradle cap was the worst thing I tried after one wash with that my baby's head was weeping all over. I posted on here and found that everybody has there own solutions and nothing is the same for two babies

thanks ladies for your replies....Zorak, you are making me think, because his head is inflamed..Lord, i think it is eczema not cradle cap....

i have booked an appointment to see the doctor today, i hope what she prescribes will help.

babymama lol....thats true
