Hey girlies!

I have always been quite artistic, and I love decorating and making things! I also want to save on money!

Is anyone else here having a big urge to make lots of cute things for baby or nursery? Whether it's knitting clothing, making bedding, decorative items for the nursery etc, I think it's be a great idea to share your creativity on this thread!

I have painted the babies room already and we've got the basic furniture, but I want to add lots of small things!

The first thing I am working on is a white long frame, and I'm cutting out his name, each letter in different patterns but similar colour to the bedroom, and then sticking it on but with foam pads to make it 3d!

I will post the final thing later!

I'm also really interested in making my own bedding and knitting! Although, I need to learn how to knit!

Here's a couple of photos of Oliver's nursery so far!

Please share nursery photos to share ideas for decor! I am obsessed with looking on Pinterest for ideas on what I could make and it's amazing what things you can make, that are unique and look so wonderful!

Ps. I did re edit the images to be resized via tiny pic to be suitable for forums, please let me know if these are too big, as I don't usually post photos. Let me know and I can re size them again! X

I love the colors! I also will be making a bunch of things for the nursery. I'm doing a natical theme. I plan on making a mobile, painting some pictures to hang on the wall, making a sailboat out of driftwood and refinishing a dresser, fabric, and painting nautical flags on wood panels to hang on the wall (if we ever pick a name!)

Thank you babyhopes, I saw something similar in a book and tweaked the colours, I think theirs was more of a cream so I went for more of a baby yellow!

Aw a nautical theme would be lovely! I've seen lots of that kind of thing on Pinterest! I bet a net with teddies would look cute with that :D x

Love your nursery!
I sew and knit, and plan on making all my bedding and textiles. I already have a quilt top, that I just need to quilt this weekend.
The quilt (from the project page) is what I have. I'll share the final picture next week hopefully when I finish. I'm a copycat so colors are the same ;)

I also knit and plan on making a few blankets for the stroller, my first knitting project will be a stuffed bear though :) I have my eye on a few sweaters as well.

I'm not sure we'll be painting the walls, but I've started a nursery board on pinterest. I saw a super cute room with coral colored borders, I might do something like that.
We have a daybed in the nursery-to-be which we won't be removing, and I plan on packing it with colorful pillows and quilts.
I really need to start thinking about this!

I love seeing others ideas!

I'll definitely be stalking this thread! I'm so into making things and love looking at different ideas! Problem is I never have any of my own haha!
We're don't have a nursery at the moment, to little one will have to be in our room until she's bigger and then move into the second bedroom with my son, so I can't go all out on cute little nursery bits, which I'm so disappointed about! But I'm still looking for cute little things that I can make for her :)
I made a patchwork quilt for my DS made out of all his old favourite clothes which he loves, and I love as it's such a trip down memory lane. There's a story behind each one of the squares, and its fairly big!

Hi GeralynB

I love the Nautical idea! I've been researching into this as i wanted to buy 3D letters that hang on the wall but i just can't find any. have you come across any at all?

Hi GeralynB

I did see some on pinterest but I think they were handmade

Theme for our nursery is jungle. Still don't know sex sp have yet to paint. I've been drawing and painting animals on canvas to put on the wall. The fabric 3d name letters sounds fun. Might have to steal the idea :)

I found some 3d cardboard letters in Country Baskets (I bet you can find some in Hobby Craft), but they weren't like consistently nice shaped letters if that makes sense. If you can find real wood (must be handmade or an online job!) then is say go for wood!

I want your opinions on this frame I've started to put together now! I fell in love with the patterned card, and I was originally going to do wooden letters! But I couldn't find any in a local shop and I was on a budget and now I'm rethinking on searching for the wooden letters now! And maybe painting them??

When I cut out his name in card, I realised that after bending it to cut it's not going to look great if I make the letters '3d' and stick them out of the frame with foam tape.

I also didn't think the frame I bought came with glass as it's made for being like a memory keepsake frame. But it does. So I've placed the card in the glass and it's all flat.
And now I like it and it looks cute but it doesn't give that amazing DIY handmade feel that I wanted.

I guess it's nice, and the colours and patterns are cute for the room, and the only good thing I can think why maybe this is the better option is now it's not 3d, I can clean it easier because the glass is ontop now, so dust won't be an issue, and I can always re use and change what's in the frame in the future. (Going to stick it down with masking tape so it doesn't rip the backing card)

I knitted this blanket for my daughter whilst I was pregnant. I did it in strips to make it easier to work with then sewed them together. It's pretty simple, just knitting and purling. I changed colour each square to give a patchwork pattern.

Here she is wrapped up in it when she was little. You can just about see the heart pattern.

Gorgeous!!!

Loving all your nurseries girls, very creative. I'm struggling as we live in a two bed house so new baby will be sharing with big sister who'll be almost 4years old. We're going to find out the gender of our new baby which I'm hoping will help us to prepare and give us some much needed inspiration of how to decorate their shared bedroom :) all very exciting!
