Crib or Moses Basket?

Which one are you going to use?

I have both and i'm still undecided!

we got given a really nice crib. Plus, babies in my family tend to be quite big so it seemed sensible anyway (thats why my sister gave us a crib. Her baby was masshooosive!) and my lil nut seems to be growing well too.

I have a crib, don't have the moses basket, or here we call them bassinets.
But, my aunt did buy me a play pen that has the bassinet that can be put into it, and if for whatever reason I have to have a c-section, I think that's what I will be using as it would be much easier for me.

But my MIL seems to think that the bassinet is a waste because I wouldn't use it long enough... We'll see!

We're going straight to the cot (we call them cribs here). Since we'll still be in our 1 bedroom apartment for the first 4 months, there's no point of us getting a bassinet (crib).

We got a really nice crib that converts into a toddler day bed and double bed..

My boyfriend has a bassinet at his house for if the baby stays there, it belongs to his family (not his mom, but an aunt or cousin or something) so it's staying there.. after that if the baby stays over we have a playpen (also has a bassinet in the event I have a caesarian).

crib mainly because my mum gave it to us its really nice was expensive and fits in my room better than his cot does so were trying to leave it as long as we can before putting him in that and he will fit in it a lot longer than he would a moses

I have a crib I dont want a mosses basket cause it just seems like the baby would grow out of it and youll end up having to get a crib anyways lol

We've got a moses basket and a crib. We're going to keep the moses basket downstairs and use the crib in our room, then when hes outgrown those he'll go into his cotbed! Its easier for me to have the moses basket downstairs after having a c-section, that way i donthave to lift him up and down all the time.

I had to put not decided but we have both. The moses basket for downstairs and the crib for upstairs. Then into the cot at 6 months xxx

I use a crib upstairs in the bedroom and a moses basket type thingy downstairs for daytime naps...always have:happydance:. My 1 year old is in the cot at the moment so will be evicted into a big boy bed once this little one needs to move into a cot, probably at about 7months or so.

Moses Basket, just cause they are really convinient for in the day and getting from room to room. :)

i have amoses basket from my first daughter, when i had my second i was given a swinging crib, which i use in my bedroom and use my moses basket downstairs, have to replace my cot this time cos stupid DB lost half the pieces when we moved, grrr, but im no use cos i use all 3, making most of them.

Wow, I'm confused by the terminology! I don't know what a cot is? And does Moses basked = bassinet?

Anyways, for me here in canada, I'm putting the little man in a bassinet by my bed for the first while, for ease of having him handy for nighttime feeds. However, had the bassinet not been given to us, I wouldn't have bought one as he'll grow out of it quickly.

Then straight to the crib (and by crib I mean the things with a rails and a mattress that can be set high when their little and drops to a lower setting as they grow. He'll stay in that till he's ready for a proper bed.

crib in the uk, is smaller version of your crib that usually rocks , its slightly bigger than a moses basket ( bsnt), our cot is the same as your crib, all very confusing lol

The pram I'm looking at getting comes with a proper wooden stand and covers so you can use the carrycot top as a moses basket and we've also got a cotbed for his room so I think we'll prob have him in the pram carrycot in his room for the first 3-4 weeks at night and then move him across into his cotbed. We can then put the pram carrycot on the stand downstairs for during the day.

I think going from being squashed in a womb to having a whole cotbed to himself might be a bit unsettling/overwhelming in the first week or so so I think the pram carrycot might be a good halfway house for the 3-4 weeks if that makes sense.

I guess at the end of the day though it all comes down to where baby is happiest sleeping!

I have a moses basket, just because it's easier to move around. I know cribs aren't that expensive but with so much other stuff to buy, and the moses basket being bought for us, thought we would make use of the moneys we saved not having to buy both. Have a cot/bed for when he outgrows m/basket xox

Pretty much the same for me although we haven't got the moses basket yet as my friend buying it. I may just stick with the crib as Im thinking our cat will probably assume its a new larger cat basket and I don't want her jumping it it although my MW told me you can get nets to cover them.

If I wasn't have the moses basket bought then I would have just gone for the crib as they are virtually the same price and last longer and I just love them !! Remind me of fairytales lol

I'm going to use a moses basket for the first 2 months then onto a cot after, its easier to take the baby around the house with you if you use a moses basket, with my others i have placed the moses basket into the cot at night so they are familiar with the cot when they are old enough to be swapped over xxx
