croup

not my LO but working in child care, i have def. seen kids with it. Do you think your LO has it? The cough sounds like a seal "bark" and usually their chest is heaving up and down. You can google the sound of the cough and check if it sounds like LO.

no experience personally per se but a child in the next class to my dd's had it, her mum picked her up and as they walked out the school doors she literally barked as described, all the other mums just turned around like OMG have you took her to the docs?

oh forgot to add my sister had it as a baby too, but I cant remember what my mum said about her much, I tend to switch off after ten minutes when my mum starts talking :haha:

hope LO is okay and much better soon :hugs:

fairydreams :flower:

sorry no personal experience, but MIL was telling me that OH had it as a kid, she also said he used to bark :(

I had it when I was 5, and remember it quite clearly (especially the banana flavoured antibiotics!). Has your LO got it?

My DD had it at 7 months and was hospitalised. She's had it twice since but I've known what to do so and she was older too so it wasn't as bad.

i never expierenced this but my mum said i had it when i was 2 (still managed to come 2nd in a beauty contest!!) that was 35 yrs ago. i asked her what did she give me....... totally breaking all baby rules here, no antibiotics but she used to rub vicks on my chest at nite and dip my dummy into a mixture of warm water, lemon, honey and ................. a tiny drop of whiskey (so she says tiny)
