Crying in utero- thoughts?

This is my baby girl when she was being poked and shaken by the ultrasound tech. She definitely has feelings, and got quite upset at that point.....cue picture..

Whether they cry I'm not sure but they can get grumpy, sad, or happy & content. Their little emotions are forming.

This picture breaks my heart when I see it. Poor little Millie! X

Oh gosh I want to cry now

When was your ultrasound done? :) Poor thing but omg cute

At 31 weeks x

I too have a cry baby at 25+2 (or just a scrunched up face)

Wow, Sue/Sammy those are amazing pictures! I feel pretty certain bubs was at least shocked and upset yesterday now - lots of belly rubbing and being extra careful from now on!! That youtube vid is amazing too, really hard to believe the baby on there could be doing anything but going through the motions of having a good cry. I guess it makes sense as they practice everything else in utero, like sucking, breathing, hiccuping, moving and swallowing.... And as a cry is normally the second thing they do after taking a breath... Cant wait to give my bubs a comforting cuddle now!!!

Awwwww that post just brought a tear to my eye! I really don't like the thought of them crying and not being able to give them a wee cuddle :( xx

Oh my  I feel really really terrible now... I used to shake and prod at my belly to get my boy to kick when I was in late second tri and the kicks were still infrequent. My heart breaks thinking that I was actually upsetting him!! :( Oh boy.... I think I need to cuddle my cat and rub my belly for a bit to feel better.

babies can't actually produce proper tears until they're a few weeks old,. so while they may be frowning, scrunching face up, looking 'upset' they won't be actually 'crying' with tears like you would think from that description.
