Hi all any advice would be gratefully recieved!

My 2nd Lo is 8wks 12lb 7oz on dr browns bottles and C&G comfort.

I put Jack on comfort milk at about 3 weeks as he suffered with terrible wind! both ends! hv suggested it. The first problem was Jack couldnt handle the flow on DBs level 2 so left him on level one he fed well but it can take 30mins to an hour.

The bouts of crying while feeding have been few and far between but have had 3 feeds on the trot today like it, Jack will feed fine until he has had about 4oz ( he normally takes 6-7oz) i wind him he burps and i offer the bottle back and then he starts he will suck then stretch out off the bottle and start crying offer the bottle again and he does it again after a couple of sucks, if i sit him up or put him over my shoulder he is fine but soon wants bottle again. did a little test and offered him water which he took more of and seemed ok little wriggles but not like the milk.

i thought wind? tired from sucking? milk not fast enough? possible reflux?

sorry its so long winded but any advice or experience welcome!!

Thanks Rachael x:blush:

My LO does this too because of her reflux. She will still be hungry but start pushing the bottle away and crying. Is he sick a lot?

Try keeping him as upright as poss when feeding him, then keep him upright for at least 20 mins after a feed. Also try tilting his cot so that his head is higher than his body. If all that doesn't help you could get some gaviscon off the doc!

Thats if it is reflux...sounds like it to me :) xx

My LO did this, and it seemed to be because feeding was prompting him to try to poo or trump. We also had problems with getting enough burps out of him.

To help get the burps out, we used infacol for a while, and it really helped him to learn how to get the wind out. We stopped when they started coming out with the bottle still in his mouth, and haven't had a problem at the top end since.

With his bottom end, there are two other things I did other than switch to comfort formula. The first was make sure I wasn't under-measuring the water when making up his bottles. Don't add extra water, but make sure you're filling to the upper edge of the mark - the lines are quite thick on DB bottles. Also, try offering a little cool boiled water - maybe an ounce or so per day. If your LO will take it that should help him shift things more easily, without being so much that it will affect his milk intake.

I don't know if any of those things will help, but it might be worth a try.

Hi Guys thanks for your responses! sorry its took so long to get back on never seem to have the time!!

Update: Jack now 11 weeks, off comfort milk back on C&G prem (about 2 weeks) and avent bottles not dr browns, he is feeding alot better still some (very few!) wriggly feeds but nothing like before! so i think its just trial and error some things just dont suit some babies i suppose, i keep you posted!! xxxxx
