hi girls, i am a larger size and thinking of a cs this time due to a traumatic birth with DD.

i've a B shaped body and worried how this will effect the incision, with DD i didn't have a bump yet this time one is there already.

just worried with the insicion above biking line risk of infect with body shape

am i being mad?

I have this worry also, from what I have been told by my midwife it's the risk of sweat under the folds lol so I plan on putting a rolled up clean t-towel under the bump to 'soak' any up :(

Minging I know :(! xx

You just stuff a period or maternity pad under the skin fold, works well! I have a lot of overhanging skin, and had 2 c-sections. No infections or any other problems.

thank you so much ladies...... feeling a lot happier now

I am a bigger girl. I had an EMCS with my DS 4 years ago. Due to the pregnancy itself and swelling from the c-section my belly actually hung over my stuff  when I first came home. Like seriously couldn't even see it when I looked in a mirror unless I pulled my belly up. Anyway I showered every day and washed the incision with soap and water and dried it well. It wasn't even closed on the outside. They took my staples out before I left the hospital 2 days after the surgery. So even though the wound was open and I had the overhang I healed very well. Never had any indication of infection and it barely left a scar. Just make sure you keep it clean and dry :flower:

I had a section just over 2 weeks ago and i have an 'overhang' and so far no problems with infections etc. As previous poster says i just shower daily and make sure i dry it well and then if i can i lie down on the bed to let the air get to it! Good luck!

I found that it helped to keep some gauze padding under my belly to keep it dry. I had my C section in July, so it was very hot and it caused a lot of sweat. My incision opened up, but I don't think that was caused by my weight at all.

I had an aweful infection after my 1st c section, due to being a bigger bellied mom, with my 2nd the docs gave me anti biotics, I hope to god they give me them again, as I cant go through that again.

i just had my c section last night and they went through my lower belly fat instead of pulling it up. It will make healing much easier because it won't be in a fold and will be able to stay dry.

If you have the option I would say go for it
