does anyone know anything about them? specifically the uterine activity bit. im just curious as i have been on one for hours (just got home now) and the number was at times going from 19 to 31 ranging that, when normally when ive had it done before it just stayed at 20 or whatever or only went up or down 1 point. and one time when it did it i got a weird feeling in my tummy, like baby was moving but weirder like a pressure that was uncomfy. just wondered! x

Uterine activity measures your contractions. A contraction would measure at about 100, any other activity measured may be braxton hicks or the baby moving x

I was told that the numbers mean nothing unless your in labour. They use them more to see how regular the 'contractions' or movements are and the numbers can vary depending on the position of the baby, how close it is to the monitor and also if it's facing towards it (ie back to back) or away from it. Mine have varied from 12 to 52 before now and I never felt a thing and they were always considered normal.

Bottom line nothing to worry about :) I had weekly CTG's for 10 weeks and they only ever cared about lo's heartrate and movement, never paid attention to the bottom and it was always set to about 20 and hardly moved x

yeah i wasnt worried i just wondered what it meant. babies heart rate started at 200 though! eeek. thats more worrying!
