Wow! What a cute dog! I have never seen a dog like this before , and thank you for looking it up. Much appreciated:)

We just got a boston terrier. Not to yappy or anything. And super cute

I'm surprised nobody has suggested a miniature dachshund yet. I've got two of them myself, and as long as you train them properly, they won't bark. Ours bark only when new people come in the house (but I like this, makes me feel more safe... AND its not a repetitive bark, they bark a few times until we humans acknowledge whoever has come in, and then they stop)...

If you get one as a puppy, and take them out on schedule, they learn to pee and poo outside VERY quickly.

I'll tell you though, once you get ONE, you'll be hooked. I got one for my 12th birthday, then another for my 18th birthday, then when I moved into my own house, I bought myself one, and then had to get another one to be friends with the first... I prefer the long haired ones, as they are more unique and the shedding seems to be less. If you're willing to spend a bit more money, the English Cream Long Haired Miniature Dachshund is the best temperament, softest coated, well behaved dog you will ever find. She is quiet, but also playful, she goes to the back door and barks once to go outside when she has to go, she eats twice a day, LOVES her crate (but also enjoys a good nap in the bed with me), and in all 6 dogs I've had my entire life, I've never had anyone compliment more than they do with her about how beautiful she is.

I should note, they are VERY loyal to their owners, and will follow you literally at your heels all around the house and yard as you do yard work, laundry, cook dinner, vacuum, everything! (I personally love this, it makes me feel like a queen!! haha!)

I'll try to upload a pic if I can. For now, look at these guys, my baby girl looks just like the one on the far right https://cbwags4udachsies.com/CBWcreams.jpg

Here is a video I took of my two girls shortly after I got my blonde one. For the record, they don't ALWAYS act like this, usually once a day for about 10 minutes, and its WAY worse after they've had a bath (which in this video, I had just bathed the black&brown one. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-u-EV2Y_e9g

A lot of it depends on how they're raised. We have a Chihuahua for example, a stereotypically 'yappy' dog. But we've taught him not to bark unnecessarily and he's as good as gold.

My MIL has two miniature poodles who never stop barking in comparison. She gives them a biscuit so they'll be quiet and then doesn't understand when I explain that they think she's rewarding them so they'll keep on doing it :dohh:

It's all in the training with most dogs.

How did u teach them not to bark please?

I used Victoria Stilwell's method, she does the 'It's Me or the Dog' programmes if you've seen them? She basically teaches dogs to 'speak' (i.e. bark) and then rewards them when they follow a hand signal to be quiet. To be honest, I use a lot of her training methods as she's very rewards oriented instead of using punishments and I find most dogs respond well to that.

I've tried to find a video to explain what she does but I can't find one. If you need me to explain step by step then let me know, I'd be glad to oblige :)

We've recently got a beagle which is a small to medium dog. He's adorable and has such a lovely temprement.

Shih Tzu's don't really bark, are cute and little.. I have a shorkie(shih tzu x yorkie) and shes taken more of the yorkie trait, yappy and def has small dog syndrome lol.

I have a pure breed shih tzu and she is my best friend - dont get me wrong shes a cow, but shes spoilt, shes not yappy or aggressive at all tho!
She just constantly wants her own way.
Photos below.

We have a Yorkie Russell which is a cross between a Yorkshire terrier and a jack Russell. He is very obedient but sometimes his excitement gets the better of him. A lot of small dogs will be yappy and have small dog syndrome. This is my dog ...

Here's my boys, mini schnauzers.they are half brothers but one is sooo chilled and mellow, the other is a bit more timid.both are fantastic with dd,scooby brings his toys for her to wrestle with him! The don't shed but need groomed every 8/10 weeks unless you teach yourself.

I'm surprised rather than making suggestions of breeds people havent asked you what you can commit to with a dog.

How long can you walk them each day? where will they be living? how much time can you spend grooming? are you overly house proud (ie would hairs on the sofa drive you insane?)

rather than get a "cute small dog" why not assess what you are able to offer to a dog and get the right breed suited to your lifestyle?

got to agree with the PP.
some breeds just wouldnt be suitable at all if you have little time to walk and groom etc x

Because I already have that part taken care of.

If you already had that part taken care of, you wouldnt need to ask people to suggest breeds because you would know which breeds would suit your lifestyle.

All puppies are cute. Most small dogs are cute. Doesnt mean they all suit your lifestyle.

I love JRs but they wouldnt suit our lifestyle as I dont want to spend 2 hours a day walking a dog. Ours is happy with 45 mins but if she doesnt get that she is nuts.

Just because its small and cute doesnt mean its not going to be hard work. ALL dogs are hard work, and its usually the small ones that are harder.

I have a beagle and they are not quiet! Well, mine isn't :dohh: he is amazingly good with children though, couldn't ask for a better dog.
