cute small dog breeds?

Because I already have that part taken care of.

If you already had that part taken care of, you wouldnt need to ask people to suggest breeds because you would know which breeds would suit your lifestyle.

All puppies are cute. Most small dogs are cute. Doesnt mean they all suit your lifestyle.

I love JRs but they wouldnt suit our lifestyle as I dont want to spend 2 hours a day walking a dog. Ours is happy with 45 mins but if she doesnt get that she is nuts.

Just because its small and cute doesnt mean its not going to be hard work. ALL dogs are hard work, and its usually the small ones that are harder.

I have had all small dogs before. Just because i asked for small dogs breeds doesnt mean i dont know that i would obviously have to pick one that would fit my lifestyle. And i never said that theyre easier. You took my question out of context, but thank you for your input. :)

I have a beagle and they are not quiet! Well, mine isn't :dohh: he is amazingly good with children though, couldn't ask for a better dog.

Maybe I've got it all to come, Toby is only 12 weeks old and doesn't hardly bark at all, maybe its because he's so young. He's great with my kids too they love playing with him.

My personal vote is a dachshund. I have a red haired mini and she brings us such joy! Very loyal and affectionate.

Beagles need alot of attention.

Yup, definitely. I have had no end of adjusting and re-adjusting with him, he is definitely not easy and in hindsight I probably shouldn't have gotten a beagle. But I am trying really hard with him and putting the hours in (inc. socialisation classes). It's a lot with 2 babies!

My beagle puppy ate our sofa and also through the back yard gate. Luckily the house was horrible anyway so by the time we finished doing the place up, he was over that phase :/

A lot of it depends on how they're raised. We have a Chihuahua for example, a stereotypically 'yappy' dog. But we've taught him not to bark unnecessarily and he's as good as gold.

My MIL has two miniature poodles who never stop barking in comparison. She gives them a biscuit so they'll be quiet and then doesn't understand when I explain that they think she's rewarding them so they'll keep on doing it :dohh:

It's all in the training with most dogs.

How did u teach them not to bark please?

I used Victoria Stilwell's method, she does the 'It's Me or the Dog' programmes if you've seen them? She basically teaches dogs to 'speak' (i.e. bark) and then rewards them when they follow a hand signal to be quiet. To be honest, I use a lot of her training methods as she's very rewards oriented instead of using punishments and I find most dogs respond well to that.

I've tried to find a video to explain what she does but I can't find one. If you need me to explain step by step then let me know, I'd be glad to oblige :)

Yes please that will be fab, one of mine is super barky x

What kind of barking is it? Is it attention-seeking, boredom, aggression, being excited or something else?

Oh no! We've not had anything chewed yet touch wood but i don't leave him in the room on his own if i'm upstairs or out of the house so hopefully i'll avoid having the sofa chewed, my hubby would kill me!

I'm at home most of the time and knew what i was letting myself in for when getting beagle, we researched breeds for months. I've been pleasantly surprised so far though, in 3 weeks he's learnt how to sit, go in his bed when told and he knows not to come upstairs, his toilet training is going well too. I was expecting him to be difficult to train but so far he's done really well.

Miniature dachshunds! My mum has two and ivy loves them. They are clever, loyal, low Maintenence but have the spunk and attitude of a big dog :haha:

Okay I have to share a few pics of ivy and poppy, the best dog in the world!

They always share a bed and snuggle when we stay at my
Mums house :)
