Daddy questions

not sure what to say, any advice welcomed!

my sons father left when i was pregnant and has never had contact. i always knew my son would have questions and i had thought about what i would say when he asked me why he hasn't got a dad.

he had never asked me or said anything, until today ( he's nearly 5). the trouble is he didn't ask a question/say something that i had a prepared answer to

he said to me 'i want a daddy'. this really threw me and i said 'it's not that easy darling'. he was then distracted by something else and the subject was dropped, phew! i know he'll ask me again sooner or later and want to have a better answer. any ideas?

My mum was a single mum and she just avoided questions about my dad until he came back into my life when I was 13 and I got to make my own mind up (he's a cock) x

I think honesty is the most important thing but obviously at your sons level, you could go down the whole "your extra special route"

Is there any chance dad could come back on the scene?

i would probably ask hum why he wants a daddy?

maybe he just feels left out if alot of friends at school have daddy's or something?

if you find out why he asked it then maybe you will know what to say!

Ohhh, i'm dreading that question!

Nearest i've had so far was when i was on holiday with my sister and BIL and their two kids. We were all out shopping when my 2 year old nephew said to me 'Where's Bella's Daddy?' - We were all shocked and i just froze up! Had no idea what to say! So my sister jumped in and said 'Bella doesn't have a Daddy, she doesn't need one!' - Luckily he just accepted this. I'm hoping i won't freeze up if Bella ever asks me, but then, i am quite hoping that FOB will have something to do with Bella perhaps in the future! x

My youngest calls my other 2 childrens dad, dad. When i told him about his biologcal dad, I pretty much said he lives a long way away (essex) my son asked to speak to him, I have his mobile number still, so I called him, and said "nathan wants to speak to you, will you answer his questions 'nicely'" he said yeah..

So my son asks him if he's going to come and see us bio dad said he can't as his car is broken, so my son says why cant you get a train, bio dad tells him he cant afford to buy a train!!! So, my son said ok, bye I'm going to dads house now and he's not asked questions since!!
