I bought a tub of dairylea spread from Tesco this morning and had some on a french stick, the consistency was quite runny (not to the point of being watery though), I thought it was more solid?
Im worried now im going to get food poisoning!! its within date and was in the fridge section x

Dairylea does tend to go like that!
Aslong as it's in date I wouldn't worry :)

there is always like water on top but the actual cheese should be thick (like clotted cream). If you dont think it looks right then i wouldnt eat it hun. Even take it back and exchange (oh i sound like my gran lol) xx

There wasnt water on top but it wasnt like clotted cream either! More like the consistency of the squeezy cheeses you get. It doesnt go off til 0ct 2010 so its within date. Not eating anymore of it though! X

hi, im sure it will be fine, but worse case scenaria you will just have a bit of an upset tummy ..
the food poisening that is mostly dangerous for baby is listeria from unpasturised milk, blue cheesses etc and salmonella from dodgy eggs, uncooked meat etc.. neither which you would get because your dairylea was a little runny
hth

If it's the same manufacturing process as @@{_&*%&* then I'm sure it is fine. You don't actually have to store it in the fridge before you've opened it as it is so processed and very little real cheese is in it. It's in the fridge because people expect it to be there... hope that makes sense. The water is its normal hydration for a larger batch, than individual triangles.
Sorry can you guess I work for a cheese company!
