Hey ladies, I am hoping that posting on here will lead to some good answers!

I have to go for day21 tests tomorrow. Long story, but it is mainly related to my really heavy periods. I had a MMC in March- but as I haven't had 3 MC, it is not an investigation for that... it is really to check whether or not I am ovulating. The doctor says that if I am not, then it may be leading to my really heavy periods.

I know I am ovulating- every month on about day 16/17. My cycles are always 28 days long.

Now, am I being thick, or will progesterone levels on Day21 tests be low, if I ovulate on day 16/17? Would they be able to diagnose a luteal phase defect from these tests?

I should also add that I couldn't make day21 (Friday), so they have just booked me in for Thursday! (day 20)... only 3-4 days past ovulation

I am also being sent for an ultrasound to rule out an fibroid issues.

(please ignore my ticker... I forgot to update it recently!!! ooopppsss!!)

Any advice appreciated. Thanks x

Shouldn't make too much difference as it's only a day or so. They only recommend doing repeated tests if you haven't ovulated by CD21, eg if you have 40 day cycles and don't ovulate until CD26.

Hi Pennypoptart,
I dont know the ins and outs of it, but I was worrying about my bloods when I had them done last month. I wouldnt worry about it too much, I assume your doctor knows the length on your cycle and your cd21 will show if you have ov'ed or not.
I couldnt get myself booked in on the right day for the tests and my doc assured me it was fine to do it a couple of days before or after. Mine fell on the bank hol weekend so I was completly stressing out, but I managed to get it done at the hospital.
I also had a scan too, which was fine and not too uncomfortable. The nurse told me while she was carring out the scan that she couldnt see anything of any concern.
Fingers crossed it all goes ok for you hun!

Hiya, I don't know the answer but I have a longer cycle and my doc asked me for a CD26 test.

Yeah I heard that you should go on 7dpo to from my FS if you are O'ing on cd17 then cd 20 will be to soon and might not show your true levels. You should be going later. Like CD 23 or 24.

first mth i had them was cd21 7dpo.......came bk i O, 2nd mth i had them cd21 4dpo, came bk i didnt O, and we concieved that mth !!!
i was worried at the time cos thought jeez i wud be taking clomid now when it werent needed !!

goodluck x

I'd be inclined to ask for a repeat at 7dpo next cycle if this result doesnt show O. good luck :)

Hi everyone, the progesterone result came back as '26.8'- apparently this is 'normal'. What do you guys reckon for 4dpo, how does this rate?

for 4 dpo thats a decent number, at 7 dpo they want to see 30 :)
