What it says really, has anyone been? Is it worth it? We would be looking at the dean valley railway event which is £14 eah adult and £8 for LO. It says on the website 3 separate rides and Thomas activities - what are they? LO get excited whenever he sees the advert on the telly but want to know if its worth it given that it costs more than Bristol Zoo!

Took Ds last week, he loved it. Thomas and Percy were there, Percy's fire wasn't on so you could go on to his foot plate and pretend to drive. Thomas's fire was on and the engineer and fireman where there so that you could go on and look in the fire and be shown how he works. Ds got to help put a shovel of coal in the fire and later they all got to pass buckets of water up to top up the boiler, ds took a wee bit of his coal home with him. Where we were there was a merry go round, bouncy castle, magic show and mini train ride. Our ticket also included a ride up the track on another steam train. There were a couple of other trains with faces to. I'd go back.

We went in July to the Yorkshire one and the kids loved it. I think it was well worth the money. We rode on Thomas, Toby, Mavis and another one I have forgotten. We met the fat controller and there were activities to watch like tug of war with Thomas. There was also face painting, bouncy castles, donkey rides, a play room, a mini train ride and other stuff going on. Daisy hadn't been that mad on Thomas previously but has been obsessed since we went!

We were at Boness, like others said we had a ride on the train, got on the footpaths of Thomas and Percy. They also had face painting, magic show, roundabout, bouncy castle. All.included dying to go again

I live in the forest if dean but haven't actually been yet, apparently it's really good though. It always seems to be happening when I'm broke tho! Haha xx

We hoping to go this weekend....if weather clears up...are all the diff activities extra or included in price ....?

Thanks for all the positive stories, we will definitely go - am going to book the tickets this afternoon. DS is 3 tomorrow so it will be a good birthday treat at the weekend!

Yes everything is included, my mum commented he got the longest shot on the roundabout ever, no rush to kick the kids off to get the next lot on.

Oh and they could join the que again for the roundabout not that there was a long que but they couldn't just stay on - does that make sense?

What I'm trying to say is they could have as many shots as they wanted but had to get off when it stopped and rejoin the que, making sure all kids get a shot.

I've booked it! We are off on Sunday. Thanks ladies for all the comments! x

Oh and also, this morning a DVD with two episodes of Thomas arrived from A Day out with Thomas that we weren't at all expecting! It was a nice surprise and Daisy was really pleased with it.

I forgot about the dvd, there was also a small story book and certificate when we were on the train ride.

This sounds really good, I'd always wondered what they do for the thomas days, thanks for posting this!

Well, it was going great and his little face when he saw Thomas was a picture - until Thomas really loudly blew his whistle which terrified him - screaming hysterical tears and he wouldn't go near a train again! So we didn't get a ride after all, but he had fun playing with the Thomas toys and colouring in. Just one of those things I guess.... I'd recommend it though, although maybe next time I'd take ear defenders or something..

It was lovely, and if we had been able to go on a train it would have been brilliant. He loved it until then, he was so excited when Thomas came out and then when Thomas pushed the big train out he loved it. We didn't go on the first train rides, we thought we would let him familiarise himself with everything first, and then Thomas peeped really loudly!! He says now that he liked to see the trains but that Thomas was naughty and too loud! At least he enjoyed some of it, his face when he saw Thomas was priceless, so I don't mind too much that we spent all that money for no train ride! x
