Just seen a reply on a thread mentioning daylight savings, and I just realised it's coming up to that time again isn't it? October time usually I think?

So the clocks go back, which means LO's bedtime usually 7 will now be 6, Do you just put them to bed at 7 anyway or keep up till 8? What will you be doing or have you done in the past?

xx

I can't remember what we did last year but we had a few 5am wakeups, it definitely didn't last long though. :)

It depends which way the clocks are going. In the fall we're going to have to wean him slowly because he won't be as tired for bed - but over a few days he'll have his bedtime back! In the spring I try and take advantage of the time change to make his bedtime a bit earlier!! (It's 8:30-9:00 now) x

Thats what i'm not looking forward to! we've just got her out of that habit, I think i might let her have a late afternoon nap and then keep up a bit later.

Belle was only 5 months last year but I remember she was waking up earlier for a few days and then she just went back to normal. I will probably just stick to the usual times and let her adjust herself.

will keep them up for an hour longer if possible.

my youngest LO it hasnt been a problem really but i still remember very well my eldest daughter was 6 months old when the clocks went back she use to wake at 5am-6am if lucky... after the clocks went back i had a few weeks of 4am wakes every morning...... luckily for my husband he was a way on training so i did all the HARD work lol.

My one was about 6 months i think and it didn't seem to affect her but we went to Spain at 8 months and the time was an hour ahead, when we got home we had 4am waking for ages after!

My son has generally been ok with the daylight savings. This year I will just be putting him to bed at normal time. He goes any time between 6:45 and 8 anyway. As they get older it seems to not matter quite as much I don't think.

We tend to keep them up for the extra hour in October. We haven't ever really had many problems when they've changed - a couple of days of slightly earlier waking perhaps but we've just dealt the same way with it as when they've woken early.
LO is 2 this October so it'll be interesting to see what happens this year

Last spring megan started sleeping in an extra hr with daylight savings. She had been sleeping 7-7 but then was 7-8. Her dr predicted it would happen and I didn't believe her saying she already sleeps 12 I can't imagine her sleeping longer. Well dr was right.

I'm hoping with darkness happening earlier in the day it will help convince Megan it's time to sleep. I don't have an issue with early wake ups with her though. She usually doesn't want to go to bed,,, and in the morning doesn't want to get up. Dh and I would rather her sleep a bit earlier at night and me get up a bit earlier with her.

I think I read that us this year it isn't starting til november sometime?

someone suggested to me that 4 days before put them to bed 15 mins later, the next night another 15 mins and so on until they go to bed an hour later on the night of the change. Then when they wake up in the morning it will be their normal time to wake up. Not sure if it will work but i'm gonna try!

We normally do 30 mins later the night before then another 30mins night it changes. Doesn't affect him too much anyway, couple days of bring slightly earlier up but nothing too silly (touch wood lol!)
