Hi everyone,

My partner Rob and I have decided to try for our first baby and I am very excited and nervous. I have 2 weeks left on my current pill pack and then I won't be taking anymore and the plan is to just see what happens.

I am going to track my cycles though and wanted to know when I finish this pill packet and have my period (which would usually be my 7 day break) do I count that as the first day of my cycle or do I wait until my first period after not taking the pill as the first day of my cycle?

Any tips and advice greatly appreciated.
Sarah

welcome to the TTC boards :)

First day of AF would be counted as CD1, so first AF once your off of the BCP's. Do you plan on temping or using OPK's or anything to help you pinpoint when your ovulating?

So once I have finished this pack of the pill in 2 weeks time, the first day of my period is CD1, is that right?

I plan to track my cycle using an Iphone app that tells me when my most fertile days are, but that's all as I want to be quite relaxed about it all.

:hi:Hello Sarah! welcome!! I just wanted to say congrats on deciding to start trying...My Hubby and I just started trying in March. no luck yet but im also in the middle of switcing doctors... My name is Sara as well and my Hubby is Rob..how funny is that! hopefully we can keep buddies on here! good luck and sticky :dust: to you and your Hubby!

Thanks Sara, how weird that we have the same name and our OH's do as well. It would be good to keep in touch here and help each other. Are you taking any suplements to help you conceive or taking the relaxed approach?

Hi Sarah! My name is also Sara and I'm also Welsh lol :D

CD1 is the first day of a proper period, not spotting just a full flow.

Hope you conceive soon hun, this is the 3rd month of TTC with my OH :)

Ah right I think I get it now - so what I have while on my 7 day break is just spotting, not a period right? Sorry, I must seem really dense, i'm just so confused.

Yeah like if you've had a full flow within the 7 days its a proper period if it's just spotting then its not a period... just spotting lol. I think anyway as I've been so confused as what CD1 is as I usually spot a day before period and I've been told until I'm full blown bleeding not to count it as CD1 so yeah :D

Cool, thanks for clearing that up lol. I've just been and got some conception support vitamins to start taking too and I've read to drink plenty of milk and citrus juices and eat lots of dark green leafy veg.

Yeah it's always best to prepare for carrying the baby :D x

I just finished my first complete cycle after getting off BCPs. I stopped taking the pills when I reached the sugar pills, and my period came as it normally would. FF and TCOYF both counted that as my Cycle Day #1. I had no other bleeds during my cycle until my next AF (which began today). So I would, personally, count the day you begin your period / bleeding as CD#1.

Best of luck!

Hey Sara,

What part of Wales are you from? I grew up in Swansea and my parents and brother still live down there. I love visiting and going to the beach and the Mumbles for Verdi's Ice Cream and cake, yummy :winkwink: I actually really miss the beach living in the Midlands.

I am only taking a prenatal from GNC (local vitamin store)
We kind of hit a road block i wasnt feeling to impressed with my doctor. we went to see her about TTC she did blood test that day to check all my levels (thyroid, cholesterol ect...) prescribed me Clomid and Provera, i took it she said call me next month if you start..call me if you dont.. so i called her when i didnt. she said wait 5 more days (CD35) test if it is negitive call..so i did and i called back and she says ill call in round 2.. which is all fine but then i started thinking...why is everyone i read on here talking about how their doctors did tests to see if the medications were working..how does my doctor even know if im fertile or if i even ovulated? or if she needs to change my dosage of meds...so i am switching doctors.. i go to the new doctor next monday May 9th. so we will see what she says :)

How frustrating for you, some of them are useless aren't they? Hopefully your new doctor will be better and more supportive for you.

How long have you been TTC if you don't mind me asking?

Yea i have a friend who goes to my new doctor thats how i got her name so i feel better knowing someone i know already goes there. My friend had a baby last september. Shes the one that gave me baby fever lol :winkwink:..I dont mind at all! We have only been trying since march so about 3 months.. :happydance: I am so excited to be trying but at the same time all the worries go through my head.. am i fertile, is my hubby fertile, will something go wrong, can we afford it.. you know..all the fun stuff... and we only have about 5 people that even know we are trying (friends) our family does not know anything. so its nice to be able to get on here and talk to people about it.. Its hard keeping stuff like this in when you want to make it a suprise for family...
