Ok, so here is a brief summary of my story...I had my daughter July 1. I attempted to breastfeed daily and she would not latch. I decided to rent a pump to keep my milk supply from drying up so I could continue to work with her, in the hopes of eventually getting her to breastfeed. It was difficult, however, to pump the recommended 8-12 times a day because I was supplementing with formula and also continually making breastfeeding attempts so I literally felt like there was not enough time in my day. I was averaging 5-6 times a day...and about 2-3 ounces per pumping session. I ended up going one day where I only pumped twice due to the fact I went out of town for the entire day. I came home, felt very engorged so pumped immediately, but started noticing over the following days that my milk supply had decreased to the point where now after 10-15 minutes of pumping I am only averaging 1 ounce from both breasts, and one of my breasts is giving much less than the other. I am really concerned because I think I might be making progress with my daughter, she tried latching today, but it's still going to take some time. I am pumping every 2 hours trying to get my milk supply back up, but am concerned it might be to late because after 5 times pumping today I have not noticed a change....any thoughts, advice or experiences?
