defrosting mince?

stupid question for you ladies. I really fancy shepherds pie for tesa but the only mince i have is in the freezer OH must have put it in there when we bought it last night. Anyway can i defrost it in the microwave? I would normally but with being pregnant im not so sure? x

Yep, I do it all the time. We rarely have it fresh, we buy it and put it straight in the freezer.

I do occasionally but only if me and hubby are going to eat it, i wont defrost meat for my son to eat. Funny enough I have mince on the side defrosting for spag bowl lol! I have defrost mode on my microwave which helps

I do this but using the defrost mode on the microwave, I haven't come to any harm yet and done this regularly throughout pregnancy! xxx

I microwave in the microwave all the time; though I find it takes longer then filling a bowl with boiling water and letting it sit in a freezer bag in the water.

i think you can just put it in the pan frozen and cook it that way. i always do anyway, and never had any problems. oh thats with beef mince though, dont know if lamb would be different..

No!!

Unless its a special frozen mince that you can buy that says you can cook from frozen.

Normal mince/lamb must be defrosted thoroughly first before cooking - whether defrosting overnight in fridge or in the microwave on defrost setting - dont leave out on worktop to defrost.

Once it is cooked in a pie/spag bol etc it can then be refrozen
