Hi guys I am 14 and some weeks along and I have had sore breasts from day one. They are terribly sore and my right one is larger then my left (it is the more painful one too) I was checking my breasts close to my armpit and I have this large hard lumpy feeling thing ( I don't know what it is) and its weird because I seem to have it on the other breast too in the same spot but the right one is a tad bigger. I am scared to death. How can you tell what is norml in pregnancy and what isn't?? I actually went to breast specialist (two weeks ago) for unrelated issue and she did a breast examine and did not notice anything amiss. I am worried she may have missed somehting, have any of you felt this before?

Sounds to me like your milk ducts are swelling early. Remember the pain from puberty when breasts grow? It is stronger than that and normal in pregnancy. Some milk ducts are under your arm pits.

Thank you Marumi for always replying to my threads :) I hope so, I am really worried. Its in the same breast that is larger then the other...even though I went and got them checked I am going to get them checked again, ughh this paranoia is killing me :(

I agree with Marumi. If pain increases, or you get feverish it might be mastitis. Even though that is more common in breastfeeding mothers. With my first, my right breast was a size bigger than my left. They evened out again after stopping bf.
Mention it to yr mw anyway, she'll know more.

You're welcome!!

Qmama has a good point. I never heard of it in pregnancy but who knows. It could even be plugged ducts or maybe a beginning inflammation. I actually had this after giving birth and one side felt very lumpy and painful. My son wasn't doing a good job at draining it.
Have you noticed any leaking? It would be untypical but not unheard of that mothers produce a bit too much milk earlier in pregnancy. With no nursling sucking, the problem should not get worse however and the supply should not increase.

Maybe you could ask a lactation consultant aboyt this? La leche league would also be willing to help (phone consultation or eet up) and maybe a knowledgeable midwive. :)

I experience hardly any fullness this time around because I am still nursing. My son empties the bit of milk I have left. It is weird to have enlarged ducts and fullness back because my boobs went back to normal about 1 1/2- 2 years postpartum. No fullness or ducts, normal size.
