Why does it take 3-5 days for a company to transfer a deposit bank into your account but it leaves your account immediately we hired a car this weekend and had to leave a £200 deposit and now we've returned the car and all is fine so our deposit is coming back in full. It apparently takes 3-5 days though and I'm a bit annoyed because what if we need the money? it goes out immediately, it should come back immediately arrggghhhh!

This infuriates me. Or when a company ( Vodafone are good at it)?take double payment twice they try tell you it can take up to 14 days to be returned. Grrr

Yeah British Gas used to be good at that too. They were taking more than necessary, like £45 a month more for aaaaaaages and it took us over a year to get all our money back. Meanwhile they were making interest on it of course Sky were pretty good at it too.
