Has anyone used Dermoplast spray postpartum? I had a tough time after my second daughter arrived from tearing and pain.....did the spray help??

Also any other suggestions, tips, tricks for that horrible week after the birth would be welcome!! Haha!

Thanks in advance:)

I have seen that recommended a ton but I never used it. My L&D sent me home with ice packs, a pain cream (I put it on the pads), and something like a tuck pad. At home I used sitz bath salts (washed off with it after using the bathroom or changing a pad), the pads with the cream and tucks and the ice pack as long as I needed them.

Doctors must be nicer outside the UK, here we get told to take a paracetamol if it gets really bad and that's it :D

I had a 2nd degree tear and 1 week on the majority of the soreness has gone it mainly feels tight and when I sit or move quickly I feel the stitches pull which is uncomfortable.

My best tip is to avoid fancy sanitary towels with super dry, extra fresh abilities. They draw out the moisture to get it off your skin which is great during your period but not so much when it's drying your stitches and causing then to stick to the pad!

Never heard of dermoplast spray! And what are tucks?!

oh just remembered a bnb tip from last time round was to put ur pads in the freezer! It actually worked really well and is nice and cool on ur lady parts. The american gals called them padsicles!

I used it on a second degree tear and some superficial tears and it was the best thing ever!!!!!!! I'll be using it again this time! I had a routine in the bathroom - squirt warm water while peeing, dab dry, spray with dermoplast, and use a tucks pad every time (even just for pee) to keep the hemmis away!

Dermoplast is For temporary relief of pain and itching associated with sunburn; insect bites; minor cuts; scrapes; minor burns; minor skin irritations. Tuck pads are small discs (like make up remover pad thickness) that are Hemorrhoidal Pads with Witch Hazel.

They really help sooth and cool you after child birth.

I don't know why its common to get it here in the US other than they don't really offer much postpartum care. They also may have started this when they were big on episiotomies and just continued to do it. My doctors don't really encourage sits baths anymore and I can't get a real reason why. I felt that helped the most in my recovery.

Is a sitz bath some kind of salt thing? We just get told to take lots of baths and to use lavendar oil in the bath x

It's a bowl that fits into the toilet seat and you can fill with water to sit in so only your bum gets wet.

The bath is the bowl the actual sitz is herbs and salts. I would send you a link but I never can get us sites to show in the uk. I felt it helped. I would put a little in a bottle with hot water and spray with it after using the bathroom or changing a pad.

Thanks for the replies....I have never used it, but will be asking my doctor. I had horrible pain when I went to the bathroom, so I am hoping to get something this time to numb the pain. Not sure if such a thing exists in Canada or not, but it is worth asking:)
