I have a desk job, and to make matters worse, I’m short. Even before getting pregnant I’ve wanted to find something to attach to my desk chair for better back support. I have a bad habit of sitting only halfway back on my chair so that my feet appropriately touch the ground, which leaves me hunkered over. And when I make myself scoot all the way back in the chair, I almost feel like I’m reclining.

I’d really like something that attaches to the chair so it doesn’t move around and something that will push me forward a bit. Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks in advance! :flower:

When I was pregnant, on the advice of my chiropractor, I sat on an exercise ball. You have to get a bigger one than you would actually use for exercise.

I also got a new desk chair recently (since not being pregnant) and its fab. My feet are fully on the ground like they should be!

Is there anyone you can talk to about getting a new chair? It seems like a reasonable thing to ask if it is affecting your posture and making it painful and difficult to work!

I'm almost 5'2". :winkwink:

I have a footrest to help raise my legs up:

To be totally specific, this is the one I have: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...mp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B001MS6XW8

And also a back support mesh thingy. Sort of like this:

I think the main thing is the footrest to be honest. That alone helps my back, and allows me to sit properly in the chair. :)

I am same height as mara16jade and also got a footrest and back support. I find the back support more helpful personally (got rid of the footrest), plus was advised to move my keyboard and mouse to the edge of the desk so I am not resting wrists or arms on the desk - this can make a huge difference to your posture and back pain. Also make sure your screen is not at an angle.

Oh also (I'm 5'0") I requested that my keyboard and mouse be put on one of those desk extender things, it made a world of difference because my neck/shoulders were hurting from lifting my arms up all day to reach the keyboard. Now they are at the correct angle.

Lol Looks like we all found something a little different to be our solution.

OP - maybe try out a few and see which one works best for you. :)

5'1 shorty here. :)

It's good to have options...thanks ladies! I have one of those back mesh things, but I think it's a cheapie b/c it does nothing. My back is resting on the back of the chair, there's just mesh in between. I still think I need something on the back so when I sit down I'm not having to scoot back. Nothing makes you feel like a 3yr old like scooting back in your chair. I like the sound of the foot rest thing though so I can put my chair high enough that I feel like I normal sized person..you ladies know what I'm talking about! I've also put my keyboard to the edge of my desk to see if that helps.

I'll take any other tips/tricks/gadgets anyone has. Thanks ladies! :flower:

Shorties unite!! :haha:

Good luck, I'm sure one of the above mentioned ideas will help. :)
