My son was born at 35 weeks and 3 days. He is 13 weeks.
His development like holding his head up seems to be normal.
He barely coos. He isnt laughing and has yet to properly smile. I had 2 full term babies and by now they were doing that. Also when you talk to him he wont even look at me. What is normal for the early ones. When did your lo do those things. Should I be concerned at this point?

No please don't be concerned. This was my only concern with my 32 weeker. He actually never cooed at all, or even babbled. At 8 months my hv said she would refer if there was no babbling by 10 months I think it was.
He completely skipped babbling and went straight to words. He is 17 months now and has about 30 words. He still doesn't really talk all the jibberish. He would rather wait til he knows a word and use that.
You can always mention it to your hv for peace of mind but I honestly have been there and wouldn't worry xx

Hello! The best thing we did was visit a developmental specialist. Both of our girls were in the NICU, which qualified us for consultations with the specialist (especially since Nora was in the NICU for 74 days). Our specialist evaluates the girls through play, lets us know where they stand, and gives us hand-outs on things we can do to accelerate their skills.

Perhaps have his hearing checked? Beyond that I wouldn't worry.

I had a 34 weeker with iugr. For the first year of her life i was constantly worried about her development. My advice is don't Google as that can make you worry more. Anyway I worried about her not making eye contact and not tracking objects around that age. Oh and she definitely wasn't cooing at 13 weeks. I was really worried that she didn't babble until she was 10 months. At 20 months she has way over 100 words. speaks in 3/4 word sentences and well on track with everything else. Try not to worry. Speak to your H V about your concerns x

DS2 was born 36+1! He didn't smile until 12 weeks, but soon after that I didnt notice any differences in his development! He's 8 months now and speed-crawling and pulling himself up at furniture! DS1 didnt walk until 18 months and I highly suspect DS2 will be walking long before then!
