I just had my first fertility or rather infertility appointment mid 11th month TTC, and I've just found out I have PCOS. Waiting on other tests to rule out other additional problems. DH also got tested and he's fine. I'm glad because it answers a few questions I've had for a long time, but I'm also very sad. :nope: I guess we wouldn't still be TTC if something wasn't wrong anyways. I still have an appointment to discuss treatment etc. but I wanted to gather a consensus from you women who have experience with this and can push me sort of in the right direction. I pray to God that this is the only problem I have.

My advice, which some may disagree with, is to be agressive with treatments. Ask for a monitered cycle of Clomid or Femara, even with an IUI if you feel okay with that.

Through my time here I've seen many women diagnosed with PCOS, and they almost always try to change their diet for a while first, then metformin for 3-6 months... and in most cases they need Clomid or Femara anyways. So I say save yourself more months of heartaches, wondering if it will ever happen, when 1-3 cycles with fertility meds is often all you need.

Good luck, I have my baby now and I'm so so glad it happened sooner rather then later, I was getting so depressed already!

I would ask for Femara. I've taken both it and Clomid and the Femara has definitely had less side effects. I was seeing a different obgyn when I was on the Clomid, and I wasn't being monitored so I don't know if I actually ovulated with it or not. Based on symptoms, if I did ovulate on the Clomid it was on cd 19-21. I haven't confirmed yet, but I'm pretty sure I actually ovulated on the 5mg of Femara this month on cd 14, which hasn't happened to me yet! So I would recommend trying it out. It also isn't as likely to dry up your cm or thin your uterine lining as Clomid is.

Hello! I am currently being tested for PCOS as I have not ovulated in 10 months. I guess I felt a little relief when by doc discussed PCOS because it gave answers and helped give direction to my treatment. I was feeling helpless like I was in limbo. My OBGYN is going to start me on Clomid in March when I get back from vacation. I am also going to ask about fermara.

Some women like to try natural approaches first. I am turning 33 in June so I want to be as aggressive as possible with treatments because I know it can take a lot of time for women with PCOS to conceive. If you are in your early to mid 20s you and your husband may opt to wait and try some of these natural approaches (vitex, maca, black cohosh, myo inositol). If you are overweight definitely start the PCOS diet asap. Sometimes losing weight can make a huge different for women with PCOS. I know a woman with PCOS who is ttc and she is obese, the fertility clinic refuses to treat her until she loses 60lbs.

Also, I would highly recommend temping and charting using fertility friend (if you are not already). Since women with PCOS don't always ovulate regularly temping will confirm ovulation and keep you from guessing and can help save a lot of disappointment.

Please keep us posted and feel free to send me a private message anytime. I am on a trip right now, but I normally check BnB every day.

Hi i was diagnosed with pcos back in july, i was crushed too. I guess mostly because I was just finding out. My advice is to ask your doctor about metformin and clomid I got my bfp on my third round of clomid ( hadnt started metformin then) but that sadly ended in mc. Also I would suggest having your progesterone levels because they tend to be low with pcos. I have skinny pcos which sucks even worse because its harder to treat. Good luck to you youll get your sticky bean soon.
