Hi there.....sorry for the gross topic. I had a dominos bbq pizza, coke and ice cream last night and now have pain and diarrhea.....I am so scared I have harmed the baby. I don't normally get any tummy things and this is the only time. I am trying to drink water but the noises coming from my tummy are something else. Any other advice? I have no temperature and the pains are completely bearable. As it is Saturday morning and I am in Germany my doctor is not open today. Should I be worried?

I had a bad stomach reaction to alfredo pasta once and had indigestion and stomach problems the next day as well. I think our stomachs are just much more sensitive right now, especially with carbonated drinks. I can't drink anything bubbly or it bothers me. Just drink lots of water and maybe try something comforting like yogurt or bread to help it calm down.

Vintagecat your def right, tummys are so much more sensitive! I eat a couple of dried apricots each day to keep me 'regular', last Friday i ate quite a few as were hungry & had nothing else with me at work... I thought i had caught a tummy bug that night lol.. It was like water! But alsorts give me diarrhea, tis madness!

Something similar happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I had an allergic reaction to scampi. I had terrible tummy pains, sickness & diarrhoea as well as red, itchy body & lumps. The bathroom looked like a crime scene as the sickness just came from nowhere and before I knew it was all over the floor!! DF got up around 3am when all this finished and cleaned the bathroom top to toe. Just giving you an idea of how bad it really was!

Anyway, I called NHS direct as I was so worried who told me to speak to my MW. They advised me to go to a&e because id had an allergic reaction plus still continued to have tummy pains. She scared me when she said we will come down & listen for a heartbeat. I didn't go as after an hour & lots of water I felt better. When I woke up LO was kicking away as usual. I was so upset & worried I had done something to harm her. I am allergic to prawns but dont always have a reaction. Typical for it to happen whilst pregnant! LO has been her busy active self since so I think she's alright in there!

Just drink plenty of fluids & if you have tummy pains (not baby related pains I mean) use a hot water bottle. Hope this reassures you & you feel better soon x

Are you 100% positive it was the take away? I only say this as dh has a stomach bug a few weeks ago and we hadn't had any take out, we'd eaten the same things other than his sandwiches he takes for lunch (and I'd been eating the sand stuff just not the same time) and he has terrible cramps, diarrhoea and I could hear his stomach from the next room! No joke! When the house was quiet and the door was open I could hear him rumbling and gurgling from about 20feet!

There are soooo many gastric bugs going round at the moment.

Baby will be fine I'm sure.

I've had similar experiences with various foods which for some reason have not agreed with me since becoming pregnant, resulting in indigestion cramps and diarreah. As PP said, our stomachs are super sensitive right now so the slightest little thing can set it off. I would give it a few hours, drink plenty of water to replenish your fluids, and if you're not feeling any better then perhaps there is a hotline or something that you could call for advice?

I'd also suggest avoiding Domino's pizza. My brother had terrible food poisoning from Dominos a couple of weeks back resulting in vomiting and diarreah. The problem is they usually leave the bowls of topping out uncovered for hours if not days at a time, so they are exposed to all sorts of bacteria. You can minimise the risk of food poisoning by going for a fairly safe vegetarian option.

I'm sure all will be fine, but if you're worried then I'm sure it wont do any harm to seek some advice from a professional. Try calling your doctor, as even though they are closed they sometimes leave an out of hours emergency hotline number for you to call which might put your mind at ease.

There's loads of stomach bugs about at the moment, inwould have thought it was that rather than the take out. Drink plenty of water and eat dry foods for today and see how you get on. Also a few foods mentioned on here are pregnancy no nos, looks up
What you should and shouldn't be eating during pregnancy.

Hope you feel better soon.

Can you clarify which foods you are referring to please?? Perhaps I haven't read through properly but I haven't seen any mentioned that could be a problem??

Another German :hi:

Anyway, I had the same thing last night - had some bratwurst and needed the loo right after, also had stomach cramps and what not. They went away after a while though. I do have problems with my digestive system anyway.

If it persists, then go to the hospital. Or phone them up for advice. Might be better just to go in as they can have a look. I wouldn't worry too much
