Did anyone else have this??

After posting this in First Tri - i though it might be better here instead..

I have questions regarding when i was pregnant.

After 3 home pregnancy tests - all different brand - one boots own, one cheapy, and one clear blue.. they are came out positive within a few seconds.

The only symptom i ever experienced during my short pregnancy (M/C at 5 weeks), was veeeeeeeerrrry sore BB's. I never got morning sickness (thank god haha).

Anyway, on the day i m/c (about 1 week after i found out i was pregnant) i had horrible cramps.. went to the loo.. bleeding.. eeeek. So i went to A&E. They made me pee in a cup and tested me.. they then came back and said the test was NEGATIVE. !!!????!?!

They sent me home telling me to get rest.. and basically that was IT.
I got home.. felt AWFUL.. terrible cramps.. big clots... a weird long thing came out in one of the clots - i have no other way to describe it other than it looked like a piece of thick string (i looked close and wiped it, it was definately from me). WHAT WAS IT?!??!

So my question - why would a hospital test come back negative? but 3 different home tests be positive?

Could my hormone levels have dropped so much before i M/C that the hospital test came back negative?
And what the heck was that string like thing in my pants amongst the big blood clots?!?!

I visited my GP after it but didnt tell her about the negative hospital result.. so basically i'm still confused!

Because your hormones drop so dramatically when you m/c. I only tested at 14 in the hospital (blood). Their tests could be not very sensitive, so it is not surprising at all.

oh thank you!! i knew there was something wrong going on. The nurse was like... you must not be pregnant, this must just be your period starting.

silly woman, i knew she was wrong. And there my mum was, laughing away because 'Oh phewwww we thought you were pregnant! arent we silly'
and instead, i WAS having a m/c.. just like i TOLD them.

I was talking to a friend who had 3 or 4 miscariages in sucsession and she would get positive tests and then go to the doc to get it confirmed and they would tell her she wasn't preggers but I know I've seen all the BFP sticks myself so.... We later found out that there is certain HCG level that they will finally say you are preggers at and in some countries I suppose this could be even higher than the tests will read at. So even if you are according to a test stick you may not be according to the doctors... Sorry if I confused you but I thought I'd try...

Happened to me today too. Same thing. Felt a bit stupid actually as thought I was going mad. I asked her why I'd had 3 positive tests but she said she thought hormones just all over the place. I think next time I will wait until 2 weeks after due date just to be sure. What about you?

This happend to me before i got pregnant with Callum, i took 3 tests all positive, then few days later i got cramps and started bleeding, went to hospital they did a urine test and said i wasn't pregnant and it was my period and that you can have false positives. when i went back to my docters and explained it to her that they said it was a period she didnt agree she said you can get a false negative but not a false positive and she asked me to do another test when i phoned back for the results they said it was negative i never went back and saw the docter again so i dont really know now what to make of it. x
