So, this is our second month ttc & I have been diagnosed w/ PCOS about 4-5 yrs ago only signs/symptoms I have is the classic many little cysts on my ovaries and about 15-20 pounds over weight. I called a local fertility specialist in regards to when I should seek an appointment with the dr due to my PCOS and ttc she said we can see you next week, I was kinda thrown Off I was thinking I wouldn't be able to see a specialist until I have been ttc for several months, I have had the whole work up by my regular ob/gyn all my bloodwork is normal ( thyroid, cholesterol,CBC,hormones seem to be at regular levels, glucose tolerance normal) so basically unexplained. Biggest question now is do I ovulate ??? Well I turned down the appointment and said I'm going to give it a few months more of ttc and doing opk and temping think that's a good thing? Or should I take the appointment and seek medical management right away?
What are your thoughts?

Do your BBT and do OPK's its your best bet for finding out if you are ovulating! Most doctors won't do anything for you until you hit the year point anyway!

And Hun not to discourage you from posting on BnB but I think you are better off posting in the TTC forum not the LTTTC (Long Term Trying To Conceive) You will prob get a much better response to your questions! you have only been trying for not even 2 months (according to your ticker) and most of us that post in LTTTC have been trying for over a year! Please don't take offense because none was meant you will prob just have better luck with responses in the other section!

hey hun, I have pcos too and i had my first FS appointment after 6 months ttc but i got it as soon as i requested it. i'm glad i did as they were able to do all the tests to see how things were getting along etc. i know you've only been ttc for 2 months but you do have pcos so that does throw a spanner in the works! if theyre happy to give you that initial appointment i would take it.

the first appt they generally send you away for a few months to see how you get on anyway - might as well get that out of the way now!

Dragonmummy, thank you for your advice that makes alot of since!

*Also, purechaos109 I posted in this section for the simple fact this is where the ladies with PCOS post so sorry !!!!!!

hey hun, i have no experience in this atall but if it were me i'd go for the initial app and see what they say, no harm in collecting all the advice/info from the docs that you can get! xx

This place is a good place to post, because it is not only LTTTC but AC (assisted conception).

There are many many people here with PCOS

Mandy - I think you will get women with both opinions here. I think its up to you to decide if you want to try "Au de Naturell" so that you're not so "stressed", or if you want to seek medical help asap. There's really no right or wrong answer.

If you want try the natural methods first, by all means, go ahead. You can set a timeline, like if you're not PG by xx months, you will seek medical help. Positive sides of natural methods is that you won't go down the "I have an issue and I'm seeking all things medical to help me" road. You would rather go down the, "Even though I have PCOS, many women with PCOS get PG naturally" road.

But once you feel that you've given it enough time on the natural road and you're ready to invest more time and effort to get PG, then seek some medical advice.

That's my 2 cents' worth anyway.

hi i had polycyts on my ovary ovary...got diagnosed june 09....as we had been ttc for almost a year they referred me to fs.....i had fallopian tube checked ( hycosy) all fine.....sperm checked....then started clomid in oct 09....all my bloods were normal & showed i was ovulating without the clomid so my fs said it was my choice to carry on ttc naturally or go on the clomid.....i was so excited to go on clomid as just couldnt see it happening without it....i conceived twins on 4th cycle of it....they only put me on a low dose of 50mg. its ur choice whether to start treatment but i would say go 4 it :) good luck x

Twins how exciting! Thank u everyone for all the advice me and my DH have set a time line if we dot get pg by oct we are going to the fs ! We liked the time line idea this way we know we did try on our own all natural for a little bit :) we shall see what happens still waiting for my positive opk should be any day now if it's going to happen :) thanks for the support !

Hey Mandy
Cool that our suggestions helped!!! :) All the best with the natural way!!!! :) We tried naturally for a few months too before seeking medical help. I would have waited longer, but my AFs "disappeared" without any pregnancy, so I figured that I needed an AF to "try". That's why I went to the doctors.

Ya this cycle is my 1st cycle using both opk's and ff and my af was coming every 32 days then last month all of a sudden became 42 days of course become irregular when we decide to start ttc
Good luck to you !!!!!

I'd go to the appointment as soon as possible (though Oct only gives you 2 or 3 cycles), just because they may recommend a medicated course of action, it doesn't mena you have to start straight away. Answers are better than not knowing!

Ya I'm really really reconsidering my 1st reaction I'm going to see how this cycle turns out cause me an my DH have been bd-ing every night during my fertile time an every other the rest of the month maybe totally over doing it but we r having fun and hoping to get a bfp if not my "x" the waiting to go to the FS and just get established and see what my next step and options are ! Still waiting for my positive opk and I'm having a hard time with my FF chart O well I'm determined lol
