Since becoming pregnant I have had the most awful dislike for garlic or the smell of it you can imagine!

I had really bad morning sickness which thankfully passed around 14-15 weeks but one thing has remained, the sickness comes back whenever I smell garlic.

I loved it before, but now it is awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and did I tell you, my office sits above an italian resturant so every lunch time................ yuk.

Anyone had any weird things happen to them like that?

I have really low blood pressure since becoming pregnant and as garlic lowers blood pressure I wonder if its my bodies way of telling me to avoid it? What do you guys think? I think its a strange coincedence!

I love garlic and the only time I hate it is on someone's breath the next day!

The one thing that sets me off feeling sick still is floral air fresheners. All mine have been turned off as I can't stand the sickly smell.

Mine is lipstick funny enough used to wear it a lot pre pregnancy but now if i put it on my lips i will instantly be sick. soon as i put it on its like i can taste it in my mouth! yuck

Pork does it to me - any type of pork cooking smells like cooking rotten flesh (I think the fat makes it smell too "gamey" ).

I used to LOVE bacon before being pregnant - still can't face it...

I am fairly dodgy on a lot of meats (although SLOWLY getting betetr, I think). My baby must be either Vegetarian or Jewish :winkwink:

I could be wrong, but I doubt that our bodies are that clever (re garlic and lowering blood pressure). Garlic is a VERY strong, distinctive smell... I don't think it is a surprise (at all) that you are off it. VERY unfortunate about the location of your office though! :hugs:

Its funny what you go off isnt it. I havent had any cravings as such but really food turn offs! Although I finding plenty of things to stuff my face with hehe.

I have an allergy to garlic, even the smallest amount makes me vom can't even keep a chicken nugget down. I also have low blood pressure (pre preg too) and have wondered the same.

Pregnancy turn offs are lamb (normally my fav) and also air fresheners, OH has to go into another room to use spray deodorant too so have now bought him a stick but he says it mats his armpit hairs - yuk!!

Just thought have also reduced interest in chocolate (complete removal from my diet would be too extreme) wondered if this was to do with previous gestational diabetes?

Aren't human bodies wonderful, especially female ones?

:haha:

i totally went off curries!!
i loooooooove well done bacon sarnies tho!! ate one every day for about 3-4 weeks!!lol!! then i started on the BLTs! :haha:

Yup, that was one of my major turn-offs during weeks 8-15 too. Garlic and onions and meat! Yuck!!

So glad you guys understand! Its seriously making my working life hell! Everyone at work thinks its funny, but it seriously is soooo Bad!

ive completely gone off any smell of curries, spicy food etc!
makes me gag completely!! was in town the other day n walked past a curry house n had to run to the corner to be sick :( bad times!

It will be interesting to look at this post in about 18 months time and see if our babies have similar dislikes! haha

Im crazy about thai food, especially the papaya salad, but after I get pregnant, I can't stand, sour and spicy food anymore. Ang guess what, I used to hate noodles, but wonders of wonders, I just LOVE noodles, I crave for it more than bread and rice. Really CRAZY!

I've also gone off garlic! Used to love garlic bread but can't stand it now!! Not impressed!

Do any of you know what sex your babies are? I wonder if its linked hmmmm. thats my next theory!

yeah its raw garlic n chopping raw onions that makes me gag!!
