Did you needed a section because baby was breech

My baby is breech and I was wondering if any of you had to have a section for this reason? Also, did you have a low lying placenta (that either moved up or not)? I had a low lying placenta that moved up. I read that there is correlation between that and a breech/transverse baby.

Oh sorry one more q: did any of you try the external cephalic version?

Sorry I'm just curious and afraid that my bubs won't turn, thus needing a section. I wanted to know your experiences and reason why you got a section. And I'm also trying to make a decision to allow dr to do the version. I read there are risks involved?

My baby was head down but turned during labour. She became transverse and stuck a foot out of my cervix so had to be rushed for emcs. My placenta had been high from the start.

I had a planned section for my 2nd son who was a footling breech. They couldn't do a evc because of the breech presentation. I think they also couldn't do it because I'm negative blood group. I was booked in for 38 weeks and my son never turned. They scanned again minutes before the section to double check.

I had no idea about negative blood group! I can't remember though....if I'm O- or O+ ? I should check my record.

I too had a footling breech that cudnt be turn this was in 2000 had to have c-section my placenta was normal in the preg but in 2011 I had a placenta previa which resulted in an emergency c-section

I had a c-section at 35 weeks because my baby was breech. My Doctor planned on turning him (attempting to) at 36 weeks, but since he was premature I had to have a c-section.

He was breech almost my entire pregnancy, and I did not have a low lying placenta.

I'm having a version this Thursday. hoping it'll work. Dr warned me it'll be from uncomfortable to painful so expect that. He also said chances of it working are slightly higher for women who has given birth before. So...I'm optimistic but will accept it if it doesn't work. I'm already reading whatever info i find in csection just in case. Better to be prepared for whatever may happen.

For those you had a version, how many times did dr attempt it? Did it hurt for you?

I am booked for a C-section because my baby is breech. 37 weeks tomorrow and she is definitely still breech. I had a low lying placenta earlier in pregnancy, it has since moved up.

Sarah when are you booked for a section? Do they usually book a section by the next week?

I believe my placenta last time was fine but my daughter was breech and stayed that way (she was actually fairly stuck with her legs up by her face) so I had a c-section with her.
This little turkey is in the exact same position so far and I'm not really expecting him to move.
I've been offered a version at 36 weeks but I've chosen to decline it. (if he is indeed still breech at that time)

May I ask why you chose to decline?

It's not a for sure thing that he'll change position, I'm hypersensitive so unless they completely drugged me I'm sure I'd feel it, plus with the risks involved I'd rather not bother.
I'm wondering if this is just how I carry and I don't want to put my baby in distress or have him early. I know what to expect out of a c-section and it's not the end of the world. All I want is a healthy baby.

Thank you for your side of the story. Makes me wonder that each doctor tell patients facts or their own personal opinion. My Dr told me there are risks but truly very minimal. It is generally safe for both mom and baby. He said with any medical procedure, there's some sort of risk. So....he mentioned pros and cons about my options and I chose to go ahead and try it.

Well my doctor suggested it and I trust my doctor but after reading up on it online I've decided against it.
That's my own personal decision along with my husbands who has concerns and I wouldn't do anything he's not comfortable with.
If I just went by what my doctor said I'd go for it but I made the mistake of reading online lol

Sarah when are you booked for a section? Do they usually book a section by the next week?

I am booked for the 21st. They wanted it to be around 39 weeks and that was the only day available.

Try rocking - my OH told me by what others have heard that it hurts and not safe. I googled too lol. Both dr google and my dr pretty much said it's safe. Anyway you're right, by the end, it's about baby being born healthy.

Sarah - thank you. Just trying to get a picture of when a section would take place if I needed it, if version doesn't work I mean.

No problem! As far as I have been told it will be around 39 weeks, at least that is how it is in Canada

I was offered the version as well. After the doctor told me the risks and the stats, that 50% go back to breech (if they manage to flip them), and of that 50%, a quarter still result in emergency C-sections, I decided I didn't want to try it. Not worth the risks to me. We have tried all the positions from flipping baby and nothing seems to get her head down. Stubborn baby :dohh:

Sarah I feel your pain, my daughter was stubborn and so far her brother is the same.
That's how it is where I am as well but I'm in Canada too lol

They don't do beech vaginal birth in CA also? My other Dr said it's still possible to do breech birth but depends...I didn't ask him what it depends on, though. I wouldn't even know how it would feel to birth a breech baby or how contractions would feel.

I'm sure if baby is in the right position it would be a possibility, my daughter was completely stuck though and it took 3 of them working on me to get her out and she came out totally bruised. My son is in the exact same position so far which is why I'm not really expecting him to move despite the fact that there's still time. I just have a feeling it's how I carry my babies.
