I had a sweep on the Thursday afternoon, went into early labour on Friday morning and had her Saturday afternoon so it was worth it for me. I'd also say it's not painful as such, more uncomfortable. For me it was comparable to having a smear
Had one at 11am, barely felt anything as I was favourable (stretchy, head down etc). Mild contractions that night which petered out. Lost bloody sick show in the morning, back ache all day, contractions started at 5:35pm and LO born at 9:25pm
I think the sweep definitely kicked things off and gave my body a nudge in the right direction
mine hurt like HELL. was awful. but i lost my plug about 24 hours later, and waters broke the following night! so id say it worked! id definitely get one again!
I had one at 40+2. I reeeeeeealy didnt want it because I heard they was painful and unsucsessful. But the midwife convinced me and told me they are only usually painful if the midwife is rough with you and also if your cervix is unfavorable and closed and she wouldnt do it if it wasn't ready. She told me if it was at all uncomfortable she would stop but it was fine. Apart from the fact that i was completley humiliated lol but i'm sure I wouldnt have cared if I would have known how many different people would be checking me and taking a peek when i was in labour
All that said, I did go 6 days overdue so I guess it didnt work but it was worth a try anyway and I would do it again for 2nd baby!
Nope my first one didnt work, neither did my 2nd one or any of the 3 inductions, gel, prodding and pokings that followed over the following 2 and half weeks.
I had a very stubburn baby and it finaly took breaking my waters to convince him it was time to get up hed had enough of a lay in
I didnt find any of it realy hurt though, the water breaking was a bit unconfertable but that was because I was a ginnipig to a woman who was out of practice and returning to work after 2 years.
I had sweep at 40+5 and was cuddling my baby less than 48 hours later. Can't say whether was sweep or she was just ready anyway but i didn't find it at all painful and can't see it did any harm! Would do the same with next one if needed!
barnie x
mine didnt work i had it on my due date, it was uncomfortable but not painful and would do it again if i went over due with anouther baby. ended up being induced at 12 days over.
i would say to still try it though it may be uincomfortable but there is a 50/50 chance it will work i knw a couple people who it has worked for xx
