Hi, please can anyone help?

I know there was a thread about dryers here not long ago but I'm really stuck!

We need a new washer dryer but I'm really stuck. We've seen a couple that we like the look of (it has to black to match our other stuff so straight away that adds to the price annoyingly) basically we've seen one which is energy rating b and priced 340 which is about what we can realistically afford but there is also another one which is a rating but 470 which is a bit over what we wanted to pay. I'm not going to be using the washer part loads but want it there for when it's needed (mainly winter and when sd's here as the only place I have room for a maiden is her room).

What I'm getting at is basically, would we notice a huge difference to the electric bills if we went for a b rating efficient one rather than a? I'd rather pay the 160 more to begin with that worry about my bills shooting sky high!

Just to add, I don't want the dryer part on loads but the washer part gets used probably around 9/10 times a week on average.

Please help!

Thankyou ladies xxx

It's not that much more because a wash costs on average just 50p. If you're using the washing machine on a hot wash 3+ times a day it's worth getting an A rated one purely because you will save money in the long run, but for the average family I doubt the difference would be noticeable. Use a cold wash as much as possible, it washes just as well and that will save you loads. Also, where are you looking that have washing machines with A and B ratings? I thought all washing machines nowadays have to be A+, A++ or A+++? If it's B it might be quite old stock.

ETA: Just seen that you want a washer dryer, not just a washer :dohh: I honestly don't know about using a dryer as we don't have one.

Thankyou..... It's on currys and argos, they're mostly a and b (I've only looked at the ones within our price range though tbh)....I'm so confused!!!! I might just chance it and try the cheaper one, I'm not going to be hammering the dryer bit so I might be ok xxx meh, hate big purchases like this!

Oh though the only thing that put me off the cheaper one is that the quickest cycle seems to 45 minutes?? Is that normal? The one that we have at the minute has a 12 minute quick wash! Xx
