Disappointed...

We were supposed to have our genders scan today. We got to the hospital, checked in, and shown to the room. The nurse was asking a bunch of questions, and when she found out that we'd had a scan last week for spina bifida, she called my OB office and discovered that our scan should have been cancelled.

So, we didn't get the scan. Last week, the specialist told us he THOUGHT we were having a girl and it looked like it from the screen... but I really wanted to know for certain!

So... I guess we'll be planning for a girl and if for some reason it ends up being a boy, at least we already have one of those and clothing & such is covered!

Not that insurance would cover. My husband is pretty confident that the doctor is right, so he doesn't feel it necessary.

That sucks! I paid for a private scan in my previous pregnancy because when I went to my 20 week scan she wouldn't show us between her legs.

If he said girl, I'd feel confident it was a girl. Will you have another scan at any point? Private scans are reasonable under $100 in most areas.

To be honest at my scans the sonographer has always refused to say if they are 'sure' because they can get it wrong and parents need to be prepared for that. So it may have been that if you had another scan the next sonographer would have said the same.
From what I have heard at private scans they can take the time to really double check so they are more happy to confirm it.

My husband expressed interest in getting a 3D scan done, apparently his co-worker did it and they were able to see gender at that time as well. The only place that does them is over an hour away, but it's only like... $90 or something similar compared to the hundreds that a regular scan is at our hospital.

So we might do it... might not. Haven't decided yet.

I trust the doctor that told us he thought it was a girl, but he wasn't specifically looking for gender at that point because we were scheduled for an anatomy scan.

So, I guess we'll be buying girl stuff, and keeping receipts just in case! lol

Kalyrra- i wouldnt necessarily trust that....i was told that mine was most likely a girl... So a week later i wanted confirmation because i already have a girl and clothes, but nope, hes definitley going to be a boy! We saw his little part! But on that first scan, we when we couldnt really tell, we were told a girl.......
