Do all baby clothes need to be washed before use?

i washed and ironed everything, What i say is you wouldnt pass a baby grow round a group of strangers that have god knows on their hands and let it hang in a dusty room for a week and cover it in chemicals then put it on your baby  xx

I washed any clothes that didn't come in packaging in Fairy non bio and Comfort softener - if nothing else they smell lovely and are certainly softer. I also washed a bundle of knitted cardi's my gran had made simply because shes an ex-smoker and I could still smell smoke on them from her house. I haven't done blankets and crib sheets yet, nor the hooded towel I have that came without packaging. Sorry if this is off topic and probably completely stupid, but do we sterilise all bottles/dummies etc. before baby too? even those new in the box?
xx

I washed all the clothes and socks. Most of the new stuff feels a little stiff before it's washed so I assume it must have some sort of chemicals in the fabric. Feels much softer after washing it.

I'm not sure how washing formaldehyde, dyes, and chemicals off clothes is going a bit OTT, but it is true, to each their own! Baby is just not someone I'd want to try out those things on as their skin is so much more sensitive, and it doesn't take a lot of time to wash them :)

I'm washing everything I got second hand/from ebay and keeping everything else with reciepts as I'm paranoid they got the gender wrong. lol.

If you buy pink/blue and are worried the hospital may have gotten the sex wrong, keep the reciepts and delay washing everything - just wash the clothes you intend to take to hospital with you - that way you can return them if nessisary - you can always wash them when you get home. :)

I have to say with my son I don't wash everything he gets new nowadays, but he is older, with a better immune system and less sensitive skin.

Have washed some as they didn't feel very soft to be against the babys skin. I have some bigger stuff that I haven't washed and haven't washed all the packs of vests and sleepsuits.

Im not washing my babies clothes no particular reason just seems unnecessary.
