Do all toddlers run away when you try to dress them??

Mine.

He hates getting dressed unless there're two of us so one can read a story. Otherwise we just chase him round throwing items of clothing on as best we can. He is good getting his shoes/socks/slippers on though and will happily sit on the step or floor when told. His coat might as well be electrified as he screams and jumps out of his skin as soon as we go near him with it.

I am SO bored of this. Started operation crack down yesterday and I'm not putting up with it anymore. It just enrages me. Now I tell her once that it's time to get dressed (after a warning or two that time to get dressed is approaching, 10/5 mins prior) and then grab her if she won't cooperate. Getting dressed at the moment consists of clothes, wool layer, winter suit, hat, gloves and boots. If I have to chase her it takes all day zzzzzzz

yes!

the worst is getting changed after swimming, takes ages, I get our wet stuff off and wrap us in towels and then she has an epic feed. then she's running back and forth on the shelf, kicking dry clothes onto the wet floor, I get her half dressed and then she's climbed down and sitting on the wet floor. I try and pick her up and she does the arched back flail in a small changeroom with cement walls. im amazed she hasn't cracked her head on the wall yet.

its anarchy! especially if there is a lot of other kids in the changerooms, they are inevitably all screaming and protesting as well and its like the noise feeds the fire!

Sorry I had to giggle at that twobecome3 because Ruben does he exact same back arching and screaming fit when we pick him up too! However he has managed to crack his head on a doorframe or two whilst doing it too! :dohh:

Mine thinks it's a hysterical game to run away. Not just from clothes, but diaper changes, and nap times. From this thread, it seems pretty normal.

On the other hand, he adores socks and will bring them to me and sit patiently while I put them on him. One of his nicknames is Dobby, as in the elf from harry potter because of it.

Ha, love the nickname:) Both of my boys are strangely fascinated with getting socks put on too, have no idea why.

I'm a potter geek, and anyone who's read the books knows dobby has a sock addiction. He'll also just carry pairs around with him, and he tries to put them on his own feet, which is adorable. I don't get it, either, but it is funny.

Yes! I usually distract her with telly while getting her dressed lol. But shoes and coats she normally runs up and down thd hall! I try to bribe her "come on sweetie, we're off to see grandma!" its even more of a hassle now trying to wrestle her into a hat and mittens!!
