Do i need a breathing/movement monitor?

My sister gave me hers that she used for her little one, she said that she loved it as well worth the money, i havan't used it yet as little one sleeps in his moses basket in our room.

We had the Tommee Tippee one and it went off twice within the first 3 nights of his life! They were definitely false alarms as I could see and hear him breathing, and the green light was still flashing to say movement had been detected, despite the alarm sounding. It scared the life out of us and we haven't used the mat since. The actual monitor itself has broken now as well so we're taking it back and going to ask if we can do an exchange for a different one rather than an exact replacement as I hate it.

I have the angelcare monitor, used it from birth which was a big mistake, when my baby's crying, my first thought wasn't: turn off the sensor, so it would go off a few times a night. It's really sensitive and never had a true false alarm (as in ringing when he's in his cot), if your son is SSTN, it could work. I still use it as a sound monitor.

We have an angelcare and love it. Used it for ds and now using it for dd. We havent had any false alarms, but we are really fussy making sure that it is on the lowest sensitivity setting possible so it doesnt pick up any other movement, and that it is high enough to pick up lo's breathing. It is some serious fine tuning whenever we have moved it form place to place. It does go beneath a cot mattress, you just need to put down a piece of mdf between the cotbed slats and the mattress.

The Airwrap bumpers are fab! However I got the non padded version at first and as my boy became more mobile he kept banging his head into the sides of the cot. He kept waking up with bruises in the morning so we then bought the deluxe padded Airwrap and it is fab and he still has it on now he's 10 months.

We use the angelcare breathing monitor that goes under the mattress. I find it gives me some piece of mind and I find it a bit reassuring. They can have false alarms though which make you panic!

We have a Snuza monitor. It attaches to the diaper and senses the movement of the belly. I love it because it doesn't matter if he is sleeping with me or on his own, I don't have to move it. And if baby moves around in their crib it still senses them.

I had a couple false alarms because I switched diapers. They were very thin and the alarm didn't stay snug. I can either fold the top of the diaper in or use different diapers. I like the PC Green which are biodegradable and they are hold them nicely. The Huggies Natural I have to fold. But either way, the monitor works!

Ive just been looking at the snuza monitor they look quite good. which one did you get and where from?

I have the orange and white one and it works great. I bought it on amazon. There are lots of reviews of them. It makes me feel better knowing it's on him.

We have an angelcare and love it, never had any false alarms (apart from forgetting to turn it off after picking LO up) and it doesn't matter if LO isn't lying on it, it still picks up movement even under a thick mattress. We use a bit of cardboard for in the cot and it still works fine. For us it's given great peace of mind and has yet to cause any unnecessary worry. I also read about a poster on bnb where a sensor mat saved their babies life, which was one of the reasons I got one as well.

We don't have a monitor at all. But we had LO in our room till last week and now she's in the room next to ours so no worries.

I think I'd want a listening one if she was too far away to hear, but I think I'd get paranoid if I had the movement/breathing sensor.
