Asking those mommies out there.. are sun shades for the car really needed? I am looking for one for my car but none of the reviews are rally good for them. I am questioning if I really need one because of that.

We will be living in the desert though.. just FYI.

We have one just to keep the sun from constantly being in LOs face when we are driving coz it gives her a fright when it suddenly goes in her eyes. It's not perfect but better than nothing but it's just a cheap one we have x x

I've found them to be useless and last time we went out in the car I ended up draping my sling over the handle of his car seat to make a kind of tent, it worked brilliantly, although I'd only do it if someone was in the back seat next to him so he couldn't pull it down and suffocate.

I got custom shades for my car for both back windows. They fit perfectly, look good and not only do they shade the sun from LOs eyes, they keep the whole car cooler!! I got the type that slips over the window so there is a layer of shade on the inside and outside and you can open and close the window without taking off the shade. Highly recommend spending the extra money on good shades. I originally bought the cheap ones and they didn't fit right and the fabric was shit and didn't block much light.

I have tinted windows in my car so don't need one, will be getting one for my husband's car at some point though. Just so not to disturb him by the change in light if he is sleeping.

I think they're very useful to be honest, my little boy hates having the sun in his eyes :( My OH has tinted windows which does help a lot! but in my car when it starts to get brighter I really am going to have to get sunshades for mine! x

Some kind of protection from the sun is totally needed!!! I use sun shades ( i have one on top of another to make them thicker). I used blankets before but most of the time i am on my own in the car with her and can´t risk it falling off onto her face.

My OH is from California and he always says they enver used them over there so why does he need one. I got a freebie one from a magazine but it is rubbish. We dont have one currently

We got some free ones with a magazine, which help the sudden sunlight in his eyes -- that said, I also use a muslin cloth drapped over the front just in case; also, our car seat has an adjustable top, which can be clicked forward as well..........

best wishes

we have tinted windows so dont need one...but when in other ppls car i just put a muslin square up in the window to stop the sun getting in his eyes.

Maybe it´s because I live in a hot country but although I don´t want the sun in her eyes my main concern is not wanting her to get sunburnt!

I would say they are defo needed. As well as shielding the sun from his eyes we found that the one tiny square where the sun shade did not cover, LO did get a very mild sunburn. They have really sensitive skin at this age and its important to be careful with them. LO burn was despite factor 50 sunscreen. When we move to Australia we will be getting tinted windows and still using a sunshade!

I thought they wouldn't be needed, especially after we got our van which has tinted SPF windows. But we take trips to see family once a week and during our morning drive the sun is blasting in her face. We time the car ride so it will be during her nap, but the sun keeps her awake and cranky. I just ordered a sunshade and it will arrive Thursday in the mail from Amazon. We need it.

I have seen some on Amazon but the reviews for them are not good at all. I have also seen ones that "stretch to fit" and again poor reviews. That's been my issue. I have yet to find any with more than 3 stars, and that's the ones with 200+ reviews.

I chose these. I hope they work out. I can let you know how they are when I get them if you like. I noticed nothing had super great reviews on Amazon like you said.

I was able to order these from my local baby shop. I just told them what model my car was and a week later they were in. They are called Shevron Window Sox. A must in my opinion, to protect baby's eyes and from sunburn :)

We have a sun shade for each of the windows to keep the sun off of LO when we are in the car. It gets in her eyes and irritates her.
