Do you think this would be too weird???

To use one of your childrens middle names for your new baby???

We really loved the name Grace when I was pregnant with Evie, although we always knew that would be her first name, so we decided to give her Grace as the middle name - Evie Grace, as we loved it so much and certainly didnt think we'd be having any more children .

Anyway, we keep arguing about names, just as I thought we had our final choice of 3 DH decides to completely veto Madeleine (as a first name anyway) and he just said to me why dont we call this one Gracie? I really love this name, and its one name that we both love 100% but do you think that it being almost identical to Evie's middle name would be too weird?? , we dont really use her middle name, only really on paper........

So proposed name would be Gracie Madeleine May Lee????

I dont think it matters as your not going to be calling them both by the same name I think its quite nice

I couldn't actually do it but that's because I love finding new names and would feel a bit odd using a name I'd already used when I have so many other names I already love

Thats the problem, we have searched like forever, there are names that I really love but Gracie is the only name that we BOTH truly LOVE , the others have been decided against for various reasons ie:
Lola - decided no as its too much of a tongue twister and too many 'L's with our surname.
Daisy - Rhymes and is too similar to my little sisters name - Maisy
Phoebe - My fave, but dont think OH is too keen , but still in the running .
Madeleine - OH has now completely vetoed

Just noticed what your you said about your other half and the name madeleine...why do they do this? a good few weeks ago i said to OH what about the name Rosalie i love it and then said my reasons and he was like "nope dont like" and just totally dismissed it then a week ago i said to him "you know i still love Rosalie she can be Rosie for short Rosalie when shes a proper young lady" and he was like "yeah its a lovely little lady name" W.T.F!!! was he just not listening a few weeks ago or is he now just letting me name her because hes sick of the constant suggestions

personally i would....one of my daughters middle names is Grace and we thought about Gracie for this one but we got alot of people saying 'isnt hers Grace?' and also alot said about how gracie is a young name and wouldnt suit a 25yrold etc

I would! I don't see anything wrong with it. It seems quite cute really.
I know one woman that had two boys, called one Matthew John and the other one John Matthew!
If you love the name, i say go for it!

Thanks for opinions and replies everyone . We have just had another 'name talk' , and have agreed that she will 100% definately be Gracie or Phoebe with the middle names Madeleine May (both of my nans names ). So I have got my own way with the middle names , and have a choice of two first names that I really love . xx

I don't think it's weird. How often are middle names used anyway?... It's pretty much only on passports and job applications. If you both agree I say go for it!

My OH is Paul Anthony and his older Brother is Anthony Paul..my DS is Joshua Matthew and im considering Leo Joshua for this DS..so no i wouldnt say it was weird..x

i say go for it hon! as you hardly use evie's middle name anyway, i don't think it's odd, i think its nice our Madeleine - is maddilynne hope and we both agree how much we are totally in love still with hope as a first name
