i keep think of that friend of mine who just got pregnant first month trying , she is 24 years old and that will be her second child...( she has a beautiful babygirl of 18 month :))

but i am 34 and keep trying for over 15 month now...

do you think age matter ?

I think that as long as you have a healthy lifestyle then you can still conceive into your 40s and have healthy pregnancies. i guess it's just other lifestyle factors that can have an effect on our BFPs! Who knows, it could be something we were exposed to in childhood or in DH's case, GPs not taking his undescended testicle seriously and waiting until he was 6 when it should be done a lot earlier than that!

Is age a problem for us? I got me a toyboy so i hope not!!!

Hi Miel,
The thought has crossed my mind, i'm 32. The only thing i can say is that most of the friends i have who have fallen pregnant since we started trying over 3 years ago have been 30-35 - but then again i don't have many friends trying in their 20's. I think it used to be an issue maybe 20 ish years ago, but these days, our diets / lifestyles are different.

I know there's research out there that concludes it's more difficult as we get older, but i'm so hoping we ain't past it yet gal!!!!

I know that when I was 21/22 I as probably super fertile. I had ABUNDANT cervical mucus (now, I don't have any) and I got ovulation cramps every single month.

Now, 6 or 7 years later, I feel that has changed. I was ready for a baby when I was about 24. OH was not. I wonder, if we'd tried then, we'd be in the position we'd be in now....

that what i feel too...age 20 to 25 i was probably on my fertility bloom big time...now it's looks like it is a little more difficult for sure...

They say that a woman is in peak fertility by something like age 21. It explains why some women are broody so early. Tis nature and instinct, etc. I wonder WHY our fertility has dropped so substantially, though? When i say I had crazy CM, I mean crazy. I remember being really worried when I was about fifteen and wondering what it was; wondering why I had this long, long dangling, thick, clear thing coming out of me when I went to the loo (TMI, but that's how much I used to get!) Looking back, that is what fertility looks like.

Not quite sure what I am, but it's certainly not fertile.

Curlysue? how long have being on clomid ? i heard that can dry you up a little...

i am having my polyp removed on friday but if no BFP by april i will go on clomid myself as well...

I've been on it for four months and have not ovulated on it so I am a bad example but my CM had more or less dried up about a year and a half ago. It was never like it was before. It was only ever evident if I went looking for it, and then only a little bit, whereas it used to be literally dangling out of me as if I had a cold and had blown my nose without a tissue. Again, TMI, but true.

I was 24 when we first started TTC and will be 27 this year...DH is 1 year older than me. So for us, nope, i'm not worried about age.

Women are supposed to be their most fertile at under 25, still pretty fertile at 25-30, still good but less at 30-35 then the numbers drop a bit from 35 and up, and 40+ it starts getting pretty slim.

Having said that, I know lots of women who have conceived in their late 30's to early 40's - and these have been natural conceptions.

I think age may be an issue for older women, and I'm talking 40 plus, but anything under that...well, I don't know what it is! We started trying when I was 24, and I will be 26 this year, and my DH was 28 then and will be 30 this year. Both young and in our 20's so we should have a couple of kids by now, right??

Or so we thought. True that he has a low sperm count and that's why we are not getting pregnant, but we've had 3 IUI's and nothing...that makes me believe something must be wrong with ME as well! We don't drink or smoke...we basically just don't do what we shouldn't be doing, and do everything we should... so I draw a blank as to why we are still childless.

While age can play a factor as we get older, even young people in their 20's are affected by this... And on the flip side, people that are 40 plus, like Halle Berry and Salma Hayek, went on to have healthy pregnancies....I don't get it.

It must be a combination of age among other things...

Well I'm 21 and Dh is 26, and we've been trying for 18 months now, so surely if it was an age thing we would be pregnant by now :(

I just think it varies from person to person, and obviously after 45/50 it will be alot harder.

Hi Meil,

I am starting to think my age has something to do with it. I will be 35 in 2 weeks time and we have been trying for over 2 years now with not even a sniff of a BFP !!!! Doesnt make sense to me. I am fit and healthy and so is DH. We are on third and final round of Clomid (double dose for this cycle of 100mg) even though I ovulate.. not sure how this will help though and we await the letter for my appointment for HSG and Lap&Dye.

I never thought in a million years it would take this long to fall pregnant.

i am beging to wonder if age does affect you i had to healthy sons at the age of 19& 21 my dh hubby had 2 children at the age of 20 & 22 !and now look at us both he has bad morpholoigy and we are not getting any younger im 38 his 45 when i got pregnant with my first son it happened so quick thats why we should never take fertility for granted good luck with us all getting that baby

Hi sweetie ,

how come they gave clomid before doing the lap and dye or hsg first? ...if you have a blocked tubes or like me a polyp ( they saw on the hsg test and confirm on a scan) ...you will being taking clomid for nothing? it's just weird no? as you can only take clomid for 6 month ...

I had thought that it was my age aswell......but i have come across a few girls on here who are 19-25 saying they have probs TTC as demonstrated above...I do think that some people are just tested in life. None of my sisters ave ad probs TTC...I always had a feelin that I might have a prob...maybe I jinxed myself!!!
