Do you think your labour & delivery has a direct effect on how your baby is now?

After reading another thread, it got me wondering.

Do you think your labour and delivery is directly related to how your baby is now? ie ease of settling, sickness, routine, etc.

My mum always said that my brother was bad because he had a traumatic birth, not sure how true it is lol.

no not at all, certainly not for maddilynne. my labour and birth experience was very traumatic, but she really is the happiest laid back little lady in the world bless her x x

I'm not sure, I had a great labour and birth and Savannah is (mostly) a really good, laid back baby

I dont think its anything to do with labour and delivery

I had an easy labour and I have a little madam (to put it nicely)

snap, although carly's experience I know was a lot worse than mine my labour was pretty bad and chloe is very easy! (usually)

Jack's sooo laid back, and his labour/birth was horrible! Mum reckons it's a miracle he's like this, apparently the worse the labour the worse the crying.

In fairness I can't complain about my birth and labour (although it bloody hurt!) I was only in active labour for around 3.5 hours (was longer but it was taken from the first time I went into hospital, I got sent home and had to go back again) and my birth was pretty quick, 2 big pushes and she was out. And apart from her tantrums and the naughty phase she is going through at the minute she is quite laid back so possibly :)

I don't think it is. I had a traumatic birth with my son and he is sooo laid back...Also it wasn't the easiest with Becky and she is even more laid back than Dan!!! I read the other day it is your genes that affect it..not sure how true that is tho!!!

I had a good birth with Benn and he was really hard work so not in my case lol

Wait until they get to about 2 or 3!! Horrid baby = good toddler. Good baby = horrid toddler!

I do think that my delivery had an effect on Oscar but more because I had a bad reaction to the epidural drugs and so couldn't see him for ages. In that time he got given a bottle too and we had all sorts of latch issues for ages and I'm sure he was upset by the whole thing. I was. But at least he is here safe and sound.

The odd think I noticed is that lots of my friends who are quite wound up in themselves had really chill babies. And lots of them who are really chill had hyper babies. Maybe there is no rhyme or reason to any of it at all.

My labour and birth was relatively straightforward and charlie is quite a demanding baby so i don't think so. Not in our case anyhow! x

difficult and traumatic delivery and a very laid back baby. Now anyway. The first couple of weeks were very hard though and I do think that his whole entrance was a bit of a rude awakening to him. He was obviously going for the longest gestation ever.

I had the most horrific experience with Max and had 4 weeks in hospital to follow, but he is the most calm, easy baby ever!! So in my case no! :)

I find these posts reassuring as I am constantly worried that Oscars difficulties are all my fault even tho I've always done my best for him.

I dont think it makes a difference. I had a traumatic birth but Tye is a pretty chilled relaxed little man!

no i don't think it does at all, my labour was long and horrendous but Fred is so happy and chilled, the total oposite!xxx
