Back story, I have history of PROM, 36 weeks with first and 35 with second pregnancy. Doc says statistically waters won't break on their own again because I have already outlived my 1 in whatever chance of it happening. I was just wanting to hear some of your stories and see what my chances really are from real ladies on here. So who has had their waters break on their own more than twice?

Oooh... I'll be followng this thread, I have wondered the exact same thing! Mine broke at 37 wks and 38 weeks, now with #3 I wonder... I asked my doc and she said what has happened before doesn't affect the 'chance' of it happening this time... meaning no more likely, no less likely... but really? When it's been the same for me twice in a row? I just sort of feel like that MUST be the way my body operates...
I guess we'll see...

I'd love to know if anyone really knows the answer though...

P.s. Your doc forgot to stay awake in statistics class! Your 1 in whatever chance doesn't get 'used up'... it is a new and separate occurrence with each pregnancy. That's like my doc telling me, after my first miscarriage (which was after two completely normal pregnancies) that I wouldn't miscarry again, because I had 'gotten my statistic out of the way'. And I did miscarry again right after the first miscarriage... for no apparent reason... so it's silly to say, "Well since it happened to you once, it won't happen again."

I think it is the way my body is too... we shall see. I can't wait to see how many women on here have had their water to break multiple times like us...

Yeah, he just said I have used up my chances, kinda jokingly speaking I think... but still... I believe once it has happened before and depending on other risk factors that should be looked at... I am hoping they will break on their own again... We shall see! Good luck to you!

Bump... anyone else have any experience with your waters breaking multiple times with multiple pregnancies? Would really love to know your outcomes!

no but for me so far both the last 2 pregnancies played out very much the same with going overdue by the same amount of time before starting early labour

Well mine have both come at 36 and 35 weeks so I am thinking my body just thinks that is when I am supposed to deliver... we shall see though...

Yep, I probably should! Seems I like to 'beat the odds'! LOL :haha:

I hope what happens first time is how second time will be! I don't wanna go overdue and I want my waters to break and for it to be all exciting!

I know this sounds weird, but for once I would love for my water to break on it's own. I have had 4 children and it never broke. I have my fingers crossed for this baby.

My doc said that only 20% of people do break on their own, so don't worry to all of the lovely ladies who don't go through this.
