Hey ladies, i am just back from my doctors office right now, I am 15weeks4days, The doctor felt my tummy and told me my bump felt just right for 16weeks so i was happy with that.

Next he took out a doppler, and told me that if he didnt hear the babies heartbeat to not worry, because the baby is still only small. Well surprise, surprise, he couldnt hear baby, only my own heart. He assured me not to worry and sent me home and told me to return for another checkup in 4 weeks.

I get on really well with my doctor, he was a great support to me during my previous pregnancy which ended in miscarriage and i dont think he would bullsh*t me by telling me not to worry if there was a genuine cause for concern ...

Am just looking to see what you ladies think of this?

Thanks

I got told at 16 and 17 week not to worry if this happened as baby so smal it moves away from doppler. Dont worry hun

Same for me at 16 weeks. After ages midwife found it for about 1 second then lost it again. She said it was too early really.

Didn't want to RnR.
I don't have any experience of this, but I'm sure that your dr wouldn't tell you that if he didn't think it. Sometimes baby can be in a position where it is awkward to hear his or her heartbeat. Honestly, if he were concerned given your history, he would have arranged a scan for you.
I know it's tough, but try not to worry.

I would trust the doctor. My doctor has not tried to hear the heartbeat (I am 15 weeks). The only way I knew there was one was that she did an ultrasound (They do them early where I live), so I saw it, but I still do not know how fast it is. Trust your doctor. If he says your uterus is the right size, I'm sure the baby is growing just fine :)

Another possibility is an anterior placenta (when you placenta is at the front wall of your uterus) as this can make it harder to find the heartbeat but wouldnt necessarily be picked up until your next scan x

I've personally had no experience, but I see a lot of posts saying this. And everything turns out fine, at the point baby is still quite small, and can hide like you would not believe. So Don't worry mama, baby is fine! If you're really worried about it tomorrow or the next couple of days, call them and ask them to do it again for reassurance, baby might be out of hiding by then :)

Some MW refusw to do heartbeat this early to avoid the stress if mother to be cant hear it.

I went in at 14 weeks, after being able to find it at home since 8 weeks (rented a hospital-grade doppler online:). My doc said she couldn't find the hb and told me not to worry. I asked if I could use the doppler really quick, and was able to find it for her:) Early on it takes a little bit of luck and a lot of patience to find it, sometimes it would take me 10 mins to finally locate it. Don't worry hun, I'm sure everything's fine.

P.S. If you are like me and are comfortable the more reassurance you have, check out the month-to-month doppler rentals online! I love being able to go home at night and listen to my little boy. Keeps the anxiety down and gives me a little bonding time:)

Same thing happened to me, so they switched on the ultrasound to see the heartbeat. I'm sure everything is fine!

Same thing happened to me when I was around 15-16 weeks and my dr. told me not to worry, but I told her that I was and she took me to the u/s and we looked and there was my little boy swimming around and his heart was just a thumping away. So if you still are worried see if they will give you an u/s. Hope all goes well for you. :hugs:

My doctor couldn't pick up the heartbeat at 16 weeks during an appointment. She wasn't concerned at all. Totally normal. I ended up renting a doppler for a month and was able to find it after 17 weeks every time.
