Hello everyone,

I recently joined the forum this week and you all have been very helpful. I posted earlier this week that I may have had a miscarriage last month. I tested positve with 4 HPT's on 12/20 and on 12/23 I was bleeding a lot and went to the ER and tests came back negative.

So I went to my doctors appt for a physical today and the doctor didn't want to check me out down there because I am in the ovulation period and he didn't want to mess with anything if I am TTC. He recommended prenatal pills which i bought today.

Are any of you gals on prenatal pills?

For those of you who are pregnant do you think they helped?

Thanks everyone!

You mean the over the counter prenatal vitamins? I'm on those, I take Blackmores pregnancy and breastfeeding Gold. They are good for TTC as they hold a lot of the needed vitamins that we could use when preparing for pregnancy
Best of luck sweetie

A friend of mine just asked me today if i was taking prenatal pills, and i never thought about them...

i'd love to know some info about them too! Like what is the point of them lol and should i see a doctor first before trying them? Thanks :p

I'm taking them and I also take geritol complete I read in an other forum how geritol has helped women conceive so I figure why not

Pre natal vitamins have less vitamin A in than regular multivitamins. Too much Vitamin A during pregnancy can be bad. They also have 4mg of folic acid instead of 2mg (4mg is reccomended for preventing spina bifida etc)
Im on regular multivitamins for now but will be buying prenatal vits when im paid next.
I got out of the habit of taking them so i figured if i start getting back into the habit using regular ones is better than not having any at all.

I know that some doctors recommend prenatal vitamins even for women who aren't ttc, just for general health. They are a tremendous health booster. Although, with my first (and only) pregnancy I did have to take them at night after dinner and right before bed because they made my stomach uneasy, but it was worth it :) Good Luck ladies!

The reason you take a prenatal vitamin is (mostly) for the folic acid. You also want to make sure you are as healthy as possible when ttc.

I am taking a Costco brand prenatal vitamin, as well as extra folic acid (they've just recently recommended a higher dose then in the prenatal vitamins, and it may help with depression), a vitamin B-50 complex (supposed to help with depression), and 1 (so far, may up to 2 or 3) Omega 3-6-9 (supposed to help with depression and also with baby's brain development, and I don't eat enough fish, and you're supposed to limit the amount of the fishies with the fatty acids when pg due to possible mercury content).
I am taking all of these with my doctor's knowledge, but I started taking them before even seeing my doctor.

I'd recommend a prenatal vitamin just for good health, unless you get all you need from what you eat (but let's be realistic, who really does? Not me! :dohh:)

Thanks ladies.

Yes, I did mean prenatal vitamins. Im here in the states and I have Kaiser health insurance so I bought their own brand. I've really never seen a prenatal vitamin until yesterday so if their is a better brand than I can switch. I'm sure they are all the same.

The doctor said they have lots of iron in them which would help with a lot of women who suffer from anemia when they get pregnant. Also the folic acid is crucial for the baby.

Im taking sanatgen pronatal... has anyone else used these with luck??
