I saw my gyno today for pelvic pain and he suspects endometriosis. In the meantime, he said after sex to not go to the bathroom or get up until the next day (assuming we bd at night). Is this really necessary? I don't think I can not pee before I go to bed! He also said to use OPKs first thing in the morning which I thought was a no-no? Ugh, confused and stressed now about having to pursue endo issues.

that is really odd and I have never heard of that. Some women prefer to lay flat or have their hips elevated anywhere from 15-30 minutes after sex but not get up for the whole night?!?!?! Thats a little ridiculous if you ask me! Its probably a good idea to try and not go to the bathroom right after sex, bowel movements can push semen back out. But we all need to take care of our bathroom needs when mother nature calls!

I use OPKs in the AM with FMU and in the afternoon after a 3-4 hour hold. I have read various arguments against testing with OPKs in the morn. One argument is that most women have lh surges in the afternoon so morning OPKs would not pick it up. The other argument is that morning urine is too concentrated and will give you a positive OPK with no real lh surge. I personally don't get false readings in the morning so I test with my FMU.

uh absolutely always pee after you BD. I think he's saying it'll help chances of conceiving if you don't pee out all the spermies, which is true. But usually after 30 min of hips raised or something, you should still pee to prevent UTIs. Although it's not necessarily proven, it's a good idea. The other thing to try is use a softcup to keep the spermies in there, and then go pee. I did that when I was trying to TTC and seemed to work.

I also always did OPK in afternoon, always at the same time. I'm not really sure why but the readings were accurate so I'm not sure why FMU would be important...

I don't think any of his suggestions pertain to endo issues though. Sounds like general advice about TTC.

Thank you! It seemed odd to me and frankly not practical. I always go to the bathroom before I go to sleep! Maybe I'll do the 30 minute wait like you mentioned. The reason he suspects endo is that I'm having cramping from 5-11dpo as well as 5 months TTC with no luck. The weird thing is that I have no pain from 2 days pre AF to AF (well normal cramps the day AF arrives but nothing crazy). He's giving me 3 more months before talking about a lap for diagnosis.

Well hopefully things will work out for you and you wont need the lap!

Like she said the soft cups are awesome to use to keep the swimmers where they need to be :winkwink:. They look intimidating when you open them cuz they look huge but they're pretty easy to use and not uncomfortable at all. praying you get a BFP soon! :dust:

I have fallen asleep after and never suffered anything except ickyness lol. But waiting on purpose is unecessary. Even elevating isn't necessary. The force in which sperm is deposited the good ones usually get where they are going right away if it is within the fertile time. But in the end I usually lay there for 5 min ish and then go to the bathroom.

As for opk's there seems to be some cross info. My CB digi says I can test in the morning and I have read on various fertility clinic sites to test in the am so you can catch the surge in time to call them to schedule an iui. This was also the advice my RE gave me when we were planning iui. But I usually got my positive opk around 7pm. I have tested around then this cycle too. Hoping that didn't change. But if we don't get our bfp this cycle I will be testing twice a day. Once with fmu and one around 5pm with a 3 hour old.
But I have also read to not test with fmu and to test between 10 am and 2pm or 10 am to 6pm.

I test with FMU mostly for convenience. I am a huge water drinker and not drinking water for 3-4 hours and holding my pee is just torture on most days! At work I am ok because I am distracted and I have a long car ride home, but on the weekends I just watch the clock and the time drags by before I can finally pee!

I have a small bladder so it can be hard for me to hold as well. I usually can make it to 3 hours.

Maybe that is what I have been doing wrong all this time... I have to pee like, 5-10 minutes after the BD every time!!! :dohh:

Maybe I will chill a few before doing the lady dance of urinating. I was always told to pee right after sex because you dont want an UTI - and I cant pass out afterwards because its so.....icky!
