Concerned that my GP has stopped my blood pressure tablet, I had preclampsia with my son, and was told I had to be on a blood pressure pill if I got pregnant again, my GP has stopped mine totally and won't listen to the fact that I will need it, she said speak to the midwife but the midwife said that its up to the GP!?!

Urgh that's frustrating! Will you be under consultant care this time around? I developed high blood pressure (not pre-e) when I was pregnant with my daughter and there's no way they could take me off my tablets - ever since my blood pressure is awfully high even though my daughter is now almost 3! Can you see a different Dr in the same practice?

That is crazy! I have high blood pressure due to kidney disease so am on bp meds too - I didn't develop pre-e with my first but it did get very high. Not only am I on bp meds, but low dose aspirin as they say it can potentially decrease the risk of pre-e.

I had what I would consider servere pre e last time almost resulting in kidney failure and full blown eclampsia, I had to have a emergency csec under general at 32 weeks.
But this time round my midwife doesn't seem concerned because it's 50/50 chance if I will develop it again and can't be detected till around 18 weeks. I'm 10 weeks and I'm not seeing any mws again till 16 weeks where they will check my bp again etc and decide if I need specialist referral. My bp was ok till 31 weeks then it just spiralled out of control in a week and lab labetelol couldn't control it. I hope this puts you a bit at ease that you're not the only one whos doc/ me doesn't seem concerned about it dispite me voicing my fears this early on, just make sure you get you bp checked regularly.
