Hi all

I have my doctors appointment tomorrow, as I want a referral to another hospital. My daughter was born in St Marys in manchester, after a very long and difficult labour, but when things started to go wrong, they acted fast and brought my 10lb little lady into the world. I also had high blood pressure from 31 weeks with my daughter. I have tried to ensure this doesnt happen again by losing 4st 1lb in 7 months. (even though I cant get enough of food at the moment- think all tha tweight will soon be back on)
The problem I have is that I now live in Stockport and have been told by the midwife who I spoke to on Monday, said that due to 'cut-backs' etc within the maternity services,I could be refused as I would be classed out of the 'area'. So, therefore I have to be referred by my GP, can he refuse to refer me to St Marys?
Really dont want my baby in another hospital, getting stressed thinking about it.
Has anybody else had a similar situation, or know what my rights are on this matter.

Hope that all makes sense.

Thanks
Vicky

I don't have any advice to offer since I don't live in the same area, but I also have my doctor's appt. tomorrow. Hoping for reassuring news for both of us!
